  1. FIRST!

Innovation is a new idea or the start of something new. When a piece of technology comes out and onto the market, it could be considered the latest innovation for technology. Just an example. Innovation could also refer to something different. The Chromebook laptop is a great example because it is a laptop completely internet based. Although, that's almost the same as a regular laptop with internet, the Chromebook is a new concept or twist on a laptop. So, innovation is key for anyone who wants to think outside of the box and make up new ideas that are unique.

  2. Innovation according to Dictionary.com is something new or different introduced. That's not enough to satisfy me. Yes, innovation is something new introduced into an environment, but its more than just that. Innovations are not only introduced into an environment, they change environments entirely. For example, many of Steve Jobs innovations changes society entirely (figure this blog was a way for you to incorporate a little tribute to him and to advance GenYES's role in the school.) Two of Steve Job's innovations resides in almost every pocket, the iPod and the smart phone. Both of these completely changed how Americans live every day. These are true, by definition, innovations.

I believe that innovation is something that replaces old techniques or technology and creates new ways or things that make it easier to do a task. I believe that we all do innovation in our daily lives. Yesterday i used my camera on this laptop to show one of my friends the notes he missed friday. That is one of the many ways i've used innovation to get things done.

  5. Innovation is making something that already exists better. It can be as simple as adding Jelly to a penut butter sandwich, or as complex as creating an entire new social networking application. Without innovation we would still be cavemen..... Not a very appealing alternative to the life that we live today. Without innovation we wouldn't have computers! The horror! Who knows maybe innovation with replace computers in our lifetimes.

  6. The term innovation derives from the Latin word innovatus, which is the noun form of innovare "to renew or change," stemming from in—"into" + novus—"new". Although the term is broadly used, innovation generally refers to the creation of better or more effective products, processes, technologies, or ideas that are accepted by markets, governments, and society. Innovation differs from invention or renovation in that innovation generally signifies a substantial positive change compared to incremental changes.

They went up against real engineers, they were only high school students, and they won. That's going to be an embarrassing story to tell, but also an inspirational one because it shows that one should never underestimate high school students.

Innovation is in the eye of the beholder. Many may not find these innovative but these were monumental events. They may off not been the first of their type but they were the first to do it well. Nothing ever made in our time will be new, it will be a rehashed idea, but made better. Innovation is doing something old, better than everyone else.

  18. Innovation is the ability to take a problem and solve it in a way that is out of the ordinary. Like being asked to create a something like a poster and making a power point. If some one has innovation they will see a task and they will think of a way to solve it without using the easy way out they would do something that solves the problem but does it better then the easy way out. Innovation is thinking out side of the box it is the understanding of a task and going above and beyond in that task.

  19. Innovation-
    1. The act of innovating; introduction of something new, in customs, rites, commercial products, etc.
    2. A change effected by innovating; a change in customs; something new, and contrary to established customs.
These words from Webster's 1913 Dictionary perfectly describe, the word innovation. Innovation means to affect a change in the surrounding world with something new and extraordinary. These new ideas and technologies rock the world around us and might just change it for the better.

  20. What is Innovation? – Innovation may be defined as exploiting new ideas leading to the creation of a new product, process or service. It is not just the invention of a new idea that is important, but it is actually “bringing it to market”, putting into practice and exploiting it in a manner that leads to new products, services or systems that add value or improve quality. It possibly involves technological transformation and management restructuring. Innovation also means exploiting new technology and employing out-of-the-box thinking to generate new value and to bring about significant changes in society. (http://goo.gl/jSiA3)
In my opinion, innovation is important because it is a way of thinking. Thinking that involves more time and produces a better product that is more creative and concrete.

  21. Innovation is the revolution of something and putting new ideas on the table, and not only that, but really applying those ideas. It could include technology advancements. Innovation is taking something and hanging it to become extraordinary, it's going beyond what is asked to make something thats just "okay," great.

  22. According to Google inovation is "A new method, idea, product, etc: "technological innovations"". To myself I believe inovation is way more than it is. It not only means to me that we come across something new, yet we take that one product and develop it further than what it was, meeting the new demands.

  23. I always think of inovation vs invention. An invention is something totally new, and an innovation is a way to improve on that invention. According to dictionary.com and innovation is the act of introduction of new things or methods.

  24. I believe innovation is the progressing of something. When a technology is being developed it is innovating from previous models.
