6. Global Technology

1.  Look at the logos above.  Identify and list, in order, the top 10 companies you believe lead the world economy in technology today.  It will be fun to see what you select. There are more than 10 logos shown to make this a genuine challenge.  Oh...and do you know all of the companies represented?  Do this first, then reply to your post after you do the reading and answer questions 2 and 3.

2.  Do some reading:
Are you surprised?  What did you learn?

3.   What does this mean to a young, professional, tech person, like you, who is about to enter into the global market in a few years?

  1. 1. Apple, Google, Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Samsung, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, EBay.
Out of the thirteen logos, I know eleven out of the thirteen companies represented in this picture.

    2. It surprises me that even during this day and age, fast growing companies can still be unheard of by millions of people. This truly tells you how big the tech industry is, it basically dominates any other industries. Most of the articles talked about Chinese companies, which isn’t a surprise considering, most technological products are made there. In the article on Time.com it discusses that your next job would have a large possibility of working at a Chinese or Indian company, proving my previous remark.

    3. Kids are truly are future, when we enter this growing industry our knowledge and skills will be revolutionary. With the coming years, technology will keep advancing and growing, and there’s no way of stopping it. And as it expands, so will the third-world country businesses, to further connect our world.

  2. With all things considered, I’m kind of wondering whether or not that Bai-du company is one of the top technology companies in the world; China is growing into an economic powerhouse, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this Chinese company was one of the top 10 in the world. I mean, as an American through and through, it’d be a shock, but given how their society has been growing in strength, the surprise would be very softened.

In Question 1, I stated that China was becoming an economic powerhouse kind of off-handedly; it’s absolutely true, and my surprise came in full force! In the Forbes post, I noticed the top company was Chinese; I thought, “Okay, China isn’t that far off from being the next big thing in the world.” But then I scrolled down, #2 and #3 were also both Chinese, which absolutely blew my mind. At that point, I thought, “If half of the companies on this top 10 list are Chinese, I’ll eat my hat.” Both #9 and #10 were Chinese. Cloth tastes horrible.

After learning about how much of the global market is being taken over by China, I feel a lot more prepared than a lot of others like myself. While most kids are off taking Spanish, French, or German, or Greek, I am taking the initiative to take Mandarin Chinese, the most universal of the five or seven dialects of Chinese. So much of the global market is already being saturated by the country with the single largest population on the planet, and I am preparing myself by both learning about the technology, and the language that they speak.

2.The 2 biggest companies are Google, since they are the BASE of internet browsing and Microsoft since their products are just about everywhere.I am not suprised by this however i did learn just how big and powerful these 2 companies were.
3.This is very important since our entire world is dependant on kids knowing how the world works and what to do when they get there. It really means a lot to understand what these companies are and how they impact us

  6. 1) Microsoft, Apple, Google, Intel, Samsung, Twitter, Facebook, Ebay, IBM, Oracle. I know 11 of the ten companies.

    2) The top two most valuable tech companies are Apple and Google. This doesnt surprise me as apple plays a major role in the tech industry and produces most of the worlds computers and phones. The second most valuable tech company is Google. This does not surprise me either as google is practically just as important as the internet itself.

    3) This is important to kids these days as they are the future. By honing our skills now we can be a great help to the industry in a few years. Once we grow up we can aid in production/inventing of these new devices since we have grown up using them.

  7. 1) Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Ebay, Amazon, Twitter, Samsung, Intel, IBM

2)What surprised me was that Apple was the most valuable technology company ever and Amazon is the lowest of all of them.I really thought Amazon would be at least in the middle like Facebook or Samsung.

3)It mean allot to me when entering a Global market because we can come up with new ideas for the future generation and that it can help people as well as making technology fun for others who want to enter this.

    2. No, I'm no where near surprised. I knew that the tech was growing. I figured Apple was #1, but didn't expect Amazon to be the lowest. But I knew that the tech economy was growing.

    3. This means more technology related jobs are open for the future. Growing technology, growing potential jobs in the tech industry.

One thing that did surprise me though was that Amazon was at the bottom I though it would be in the middle or at least above Twitter. I knew that the technology industry was growing but I didn't know it was growing that fast.

3.) It lets me know who will charge the highest price for things and what company's will most likely have job openings. It would also help if I make a game to know where the biggest market is so I know what platform to make my game for.

  11. 1.) I think Google is superior in modern technology, because for apple, microsoft, and windows are imitating the "big screen" phones that is the Galaxy, and now with the search engine and many, many other things provided by Google and The next companies that are superior next to Google are: Samsung, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, Ebay, Amazon, Intel, and IBM.

    1. 2.) Honestly, I am not surprised that the tech is growing so fast. Within I'd say about 50 years in the future, we'll be on Pandora with holograms examining the Na'vi and fusing other human souls with the Na'vi ones.

3.) This means I'll be proud to have access to these futuristic devices that was a total fantasy in the 30's, but now being brought to life and being created into these amazing devices that we all have access to.

  12. 1. Google, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Intel, Samsung, Twitter Ebay, Oracle, IBM, Baidu. I only recognize about 9 out of 12.

    2. It's amazing to see what kind of new things surface and who is REALLY gaining sales and stuff on the markets and what 2014 is bringing to the table regarding the company rivalries and the rising sales in companies.

3.This means to myself, that I do have a chance within the markets and brings me hopes and a positive outlook to the future. However, China does worry me with how it's gained a large superiority in the markets and also may pose a large threat.

2.It is amazing that apple is so high on the market but lot of people want there stuff also how amazing china is growing. Also it is too bad Microsoft is going down in the market. One other thing is Facebook because there are many people I know who have stopped or slowed down in using Facebook.
3.This means I going to need to watch for what is going on in the market and probably do more things with apple :(. I will need to watch china's market. I also might loose some of the apps I enjoy using.

  14. 1. Microsoft, Google, Apple, Oracle, Samsung, Intel, Amazon, IBM, Ebay, Twitter. I could only recognize eleven out of the thirteen companies.

    2. Its surprising that Apple is a larger company than Microsoft, because they recently have been receiving backlash from all the costs and limitations on their new devices. The uprising companies that have appeared in China will be interesting to watch over the years, and could create some serious competition in the top companies later on.

    3. With things changing, and smaller companies joining the higher ranking businesses, the only thing to do is jump on board. You won't need to be noticed right away to have an effect on the world, as long as you start, it could grow far into the future. Don't let the bigger companies block you from the spotlight, its a changing cycle, nothing lasts forever.

  15. 1. I believe that the order would have to be Windows, Apple, IBM, Intel, Google, Amazon, Samsung, Oracle, Ebay, and then Twitter.

    2. I was surprised by the ranking, since I figured that Windows would at least beat Apple, and that Amazon and Intel were so low on the list. I also learned that the Chinese economy is changing , going from underpaying factories to large technology companies like Alibaba. It was interesting seeing how many of the top growing technology companies were Chinese.

    3. I feel like I can make a difference in the world since I am a young person that will enter this booming industry. There are so many people in the technology industry that have changed the world in big ways that I believe that before I retire, I can be like one of those people. In addition, I also think that when I first enter the the industry of technology as a young adult, my skills will allow me to find a job quickly.

  17. 1) Google, Apple, Intel, Microsoft, Samsung, IBM, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, and EBay are the 10 companies that I believe lead the worlds technological economy. Out of all thirteen I know eleven by their pictures.

    2) One thing that surprised me the most was that out of all the biggest and most well know companies throughout the world that apple was only 15 and that there was so many banks and Asian companies that were above it along with Samsung which was close to the bottom. Most of the articles talked about the many Chinese and Asian companies which is not a shocker because most everything comes from Asia. But what I did learn was that their is a strong possibility that most of our jobs, in the future, will come from these Chinese and even Indian companies.

    3) We and the generations to come are our future Steve Jobs granted some WILL not make it but others are going to be great. This means that our world will grow and we will become in contact with all in the world even more than we already are.

  18. 1.) I think it might be Google, Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Samsung, Amazon, Ebay, Oracle, IBM, and Facebook. Out of the ones shown I know about 10 of the 13.
2.) It seemed surprising to see that there are a few tech companies that may not be very well known, and yet they easily outdo most other tech companies that are far more well known. It was interesting to see because most of the rising tech companies, like Alibaba, I have never even heard of before now and yet they are doing better than others like Facebook and such.
3.) This would mean that it might be easier for someone to do something extraordinary if they put their mind to it, and that it doesn’t really matter how something starts off, it could still possibly become something, like many of the companies shown that started off from just a few people working in an apartment and now becoming one of the top 10 tech companies in the world.

    2. I'm surprised that there are so many huge tech companies out there that people haven't even heard of. It's amazing to see how fast technology companies are growing in this day and age. I didn't expect Amazon to be lowest, but I did figure that Apple would be number 1.
    3. This is very important to me because I/m a young tech savvy person who will be entering this booming industry. It will make it easier to find a well paying tech-based job. With the knowledge that I know and am still learning I will be able to help make a big difference in today's growing economy.

  20. 1. Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, Samsung, Amazon, Ebay, Facebook, Twitter, and Oracle.

    2. One of the things I learned is that China's ever expanding economy allows it to house over several of the biggest companies in the world. Another fact about China, they have 9/10 of the fastest-growing tech companies that most people haven't heard of.

    3. What this information is telling me is that I should get an overseas job in China and make a fortune working for these companies. I will be able to retire at the age of 30 and move back to the US with my trophy wife, who I will bring to my summer beach house in California.

  21. 1) Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Apple, Samsung, Intel, AMD, Nvidia, Google, Facebook.

    2) I learned that there are a lot of companies (many in China) that are rapidly growing and are very successful, that I have never heard of. I always knew US was in debt to China, but I didn't know that they had some of the most successful banks in the world. Although, Wells Fargo and Chase are also very successful banks as well. Apple is still number 1 in terms of US tech, which doesn't surprise me. What did surprise me, is the fact that they are ahead of most companies by so much!

    3) This is important to understand because I need to know what the world economy's shape is in. If I know that US is getting the least profitable banks and companies, I will know how taxes will turn out to be. Also, if I would like to make lots of money, I could train to join one of these companies and become very successful.

  22. 1. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Facebook, IBM, AMD, Amazon, Twitter, Ebay.

    2. I found it suprising that a lot of the fastest growing tech companies are coming out of china. Sure, the manufacture almost ALL of the world's tech stuff, but at least as far as I was aware, they were mostly known for companies that made cheap knockoffs and look-alike products.

    3. I need to know this because, being a young tech-savy individual, I am a top-canidate for potential employers, and knowing where to work and who to work for is an essential step to my success in the field.

    2. I found out that many of the companies are coming out from China which makes a lot of sense just because they have always been the technology economy. I think they are going to end up making all of the things that i have heard about over the years, for example flying cars but that not be coming soon but it will at some time.

    3. This is important to know because in the future this could help me have a job that I enjoy and give me a good idea on what kind of job I should have. One that I enjoy and look forward to going to every day.

    3. I need to know this because in the future these might be the companies I / we work for who knows. But kids are the future. We are the future and it is good to know what companies might be your allies or your competitors.

It reminds me that the United States does not have the world's largest population and that, while we may not have ever heard of these companies here in the States, these companies are huge in other countries.

The changing of the world is really in there companies. India and China well be the biggest controller in the Tech filed.
    3) I really think that if you have a job in tech you well be very successful. My aunt works at Intel and they are a rewarding company. Tech companies are hopefully good to there employees. If you want to get in to tech you are going to be some what with China and India. All other countries. Its a lot to take in but it looks like a demanding field.

As well Lenovo shares our passion for innovation, quality and service, IBM's strategy is clear. Lenovo's strategy is clear. In the second link Im very Suprised we should become best friends with china, or fear them a little lol. I learn that Alibaba is the fourth most valuabe technology company in the world. As well Alibaba raised a whopping $29.7 billion for its IPO. The third link not much suprised to see china comapnies top 3, they are way smarted then us and we know it. We are constantly hearing about the new things that Microsoft, Apple, Samsung and Google are releasing but not what Alibaba and Chengdu Unionfriend Network are releasing.

      3. This means that I should start learning some Mandarin, because my boss will probably be Chinese. I should also start paying more attention to what the Chinese companies are doing because they are growing a lot faster than American companies.
