9 Blended Learning

Does it blend?

1.  Assume it's your first day on the job.  Any job.  How do you imagine you will learn how to do that job?  How would you get good at it?

2. Say you want to be able to "Fly a Hot Air Balloon*" by next summer.  What would be your plan to make this happen?

3.  What is blended learning?  What would be the advantage of this learning method in high school?

  1. 1. By training, I would like to train for most of my life to get the job I have in mind. that's how i'd get good at it. Train myself to death and then train a hell lot more.

    2. Well if I was really into "Flying a hot air balloon" and I mean that if I didn't fly one then I was to die then i'd look up and learn as much as I can and see if they have an online course of some sort and when all of that's done i'd see if their are people who train that kind of thing in person.

3.Blended learning integrates face-to-face classroom time with online learning (facilitated at all times by a classroom teacher), combining the effectiveness and socialization of the classroom with technology-enhanced online materials. You get to be have a social life with other students as well as have the worlds largest source of knowledge dancing in the palm of your hand.

  2. 1. The first time at a job I would be attentive and open to any suggestions said by my boss or coworkers. I would then train and learn through experiences in that particular job.

    2. I would begin with raising money to pay for the hot air balloon. I would also go with many experienced hot air balloon guys and become attentive so I could learn.

    3. Blended learning is taking online work with technology and classroom learning and blending it together. Having this in high school would make students more involved with school overall. It would make them more interested and essentially want to learn.

  3. 1. I would learn how to do this job by practicing it in school as much as possible and after school is over I would go to a collage or university to learn more. It would make it easier to get a job by learning some of it before going to collage than in collage you could get more into it.

    2. I would ask friends to teach me or to help me learn first and after that I would take classes in school to learn more about how to fly a hot air balloon. The class would help me learn more about it and let me get deeper into how to fly a hot air balloon which would really help my skill level.

    3. Blended learning is something that technology should have offered but hasn't and this learning lets students get more into technology and what it has to offer. It lets teachers do what they like to do and they work closely with students to teach them more about the technology around them. This learning lets students master the skills they want to know with technology and what skills they need to be successful in life.

  5. 1.) How do I imagine I will learn how to do that job? Training is a big one. lots of practice will teach em all I need to know about that job. Perhaps I should have already known how to do this job before I signed up for it. How would I get good at it? Already explained, I would train up and watch how to videos on the subject.

2.)What would be my plan to make this happen? I would essentially just put the first part into action. I would train for what i need to do to fly a hot air balloon.

3.) What is blended learning? Blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns at least in part through online delivery of content and instruction with some element of student control over time, place, path or pace. What would be the advantage of this learning method in high school? It would take a lot of things off your mind including stress and work.

  6. 1. In order to get good at my job, I would need to learn the ropes. The point of this blog is to learn the basics and train. It is vital to study and ask questions. Make sure you learn correctly the first time, because once a skill is developed, if it is learned the wrong way, it is hard to unlearn it. Also, I would want to memorize it so my teacher or boss wouldn't have to repeat. Because everyone knows that that is frustrating. Blended learning seems to offer what education technology has long promised but rarely delivered. It is proven to provide greater student learning and improved school efficiency. For example, education elements works with schools to deliver on that promise, and make sure that blended learning offers more hope and help than hype.
    2. If I wanted to be able to "Fly a Hot Air Balloon*" by next summer, first I would make a plan. "Proper preparation prevents poor performance." "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail." Then, I would seek the approval of someone with more experience. Like my teacher or my parents. After that, I would make a model to make sure about it, with prior research that I would have already done. I would have watched videos and read articles.
    3. Blended learning seems to offer what education technology has long promised but rarely delivered. It is proven to provide greater student learning and improved school efficiency. For example, education elements works with schools to deliver on that promise, and make sure that blended learning offers more hope and help than hype. The blended learning approaches will be used in school to help each student master the content and skills they need, allow teachers to get the most out of their planning and instructional time, and streamline operations with costs similar to, or less than, traditional schooling.

  7. 1) The first day on the job would be very hectic, but I think i would get by pretty well. When my boss is telling me my placement, I would pay very close attention. I would do my best to do the job, and ask other coworkers if i was doing my job right/ok.

  8. 1) My first day of a job, I imagine I would learn how to work that job part through experience and part through learning. There would most likely be someone helping me through as I worked, explaining what to do and giving suggestions on what I can do to preform better.
    2) I would begin by researching the requirements for riding a hot air balloon. I would then begin contacting companies that do the hot air ballon rides.
    3) Blended learning, sometimes referred to as a hybrid course, is a class which takes part half in a regular classroom and the other half through online instruction. It provides efficiency as well as making the student take charge of their own education more than if a teacher were telling the student to remain on task. It makes the course a little more interesting just by switching up the learning and is best for those who are self-motivated.

  9. 1. The key to learning any job is practice. It takes responsibility, determination, and the willingness to learn something new. I would listen for tips from workers, attend staff training courses and do research online to help strengthen the knowledge of my job

    2. If I really wanted to learn how to fly a hot air balloon, I would do research on the matter, and perhaps play a few hot-air balloon simulators. (There actually are a few that I know of)

    3. Blended learning is a fuse of traditional classroom activities with technology and games. It is meant to increase interest, involvement and participation. Why read a paragraph about how General Lee won a battle when you can act it out and plan the battle yourself to see what worked and what didn't?

  10. 1. I will learn how to do that job mostly through experience while doing it, but also by finding some other source of learning like co-workers and the internet. Though just learning wouldn't do me any good, I would have to train at what I learned through actual practice of whatever I'm doing. Like I said experience.

    2. What I would do first is use the internet to find places that can teach me how to fly a hot air balloon and maybe rent me one. Hopefully there is an online class, but a regular in person class would be better for this. After I learned how to do it I would get someone to take me in one to show me how they fly it then I would be set.

    3. Blended learning is integrating a class with the online world making it just as effective and social as a regular class. An advantage that this would have is students would be able to learn off of their own computer and allow them to me more social using it. Students would be able to get lessons from teachers while off of school grounds so they can understand the concept of what they are learning about. Also it is easier to talk to teachers for some students over the internet making it easier to ask questions.

  11. 1.) I imagine that I would learn how to do my job by asking questions if I'm confused about something and trying to do something if even if I don't know how to do it, and if i have a slight understanding of it.

2.) If I was to learn how to be able control a hot air balloon then I would look up things about them in things like a book or on the internet to see how to do the things involved in piloting a hot air balloon, such as when to release the heat to make it go up or down and how to properly release it without it having problems.

3.) Blended Learning is learning by combining the teacher's talents and technology to get a better impact on learning. It can have an advantage in high school because we are getting more technology in these days and so if schools can use blended learning then it might get students to be smarter than if schools did not use it.

  12. 1. On the first day of my unspecified job, I would try to research how to do said job correctly before hand. If that is unsuccessful, then I would ask either my co-workers and/or superiors how to do my job correctly and efficiently. From that point on I would continue practicing doing that job until, through repetition, I became good at it.

    2. If I were to pursue the career of flying a hot air balloon by next summer, I would look up exactly how to be able to pilot a hot air balloon. Then, if possible, I would try to get a hands on experience on flying a hot air balloon so I could get used to the feel of it. I would simply repeat the process until I could successfully fly a hot air balloon during the summer.

    3. Blended learning is mixing both class and online work together. The advantage of using this learning method of high school is the new ways of effective teaching. Teachers wouldn't have to constantly give lectures or print up assignments for their class. They could simply put up and online guide of how to do an assignments that would also be online.

  13. 1. If it was my day on the job, I would first observe the current working people who have the job or job that resembles mine. I would then ask a few question regarding the process, for example if I was starting to work at a fast-food place, I would ask someone on the team to give me a short explanation and guide to get started. After that I would follow directions until it becomes second nature. I would get good at it by repetition, devotion, and focus. I would fix every detail and flaw and continue the work, and after awhile, I would be "good" at it.

    2. First, I would research online about fees, locations, and reviews on the topic. Then, I would contact family and friends to see if anyone has had the experience or any information, and if they are willing to share it with me. Then, I would go down to the chosen location and ask for pricing, preparation information, qualifications, etc. Once everything has been approved, I would go on the ride. :D

    3. Basically blended learning is education with the implementation of Online/Technology into the classroom. Students these days are constantly on their phones, computers, video-game consoles, etc. But, most of school is handwritten, psychical work. The sad "thing" is, its not like that in reality today. Businesses and much of the working field involves technical expertise or experience. So if schools are to prepare for our future, why are we not incorporating more technology into the classroom? Thats where blended learning comes in. It would not only make school more interactive and fun, but positively prepare us for the real world.

  14. 1. My first job I would train for it by completing several tasked without making one mistake and if I did make a mistake I would start all over again. I would take any open suggestions and learn with trial and error.
    2. I would buy my hot air balloon first. Then I will go to a hot air balloon class and learn from a teacher. I would not learn from trial and error at all. That is very dangerous.
    3. Blended learning is the combination of online work and offline work. This is basically pv online and class learning. Having this in the High School level would make participation in school a higher number of kids because of the way the blended learning works. It could increase grades by the way the students have to applie themselves too.

  15. 1.If it was my first day on a job I would learn about it that so I know what will be going on. I would also ask questions of the experienced workers. It would take experience to find the fastest way to do your job.
    2. If i was going to learn how to fly a hot air balloon I would try to find a class or dvd to teach me how to fly a hot air balloon.
3.Blended learning is an online course where students work at there own pace. It is good where you can find out what you are working on your self. It also is usually how you work in a job.

    ReplyDelete
  16. 1.) First to get good at a job you will need to know some of what you are doing. If you haven't already been to school for a couple years to know the basics, then on the job training can help you learn. You can watch others and do research on the job. You then have to just do the job that they give you and do it to your best ability. If you work hard and if you do well you can move up to higher positions and eventually you can lead the people.

2.) First I would research what is needed to fly a hot air balloon and how much it will cost. My plan is to get enough money first. Then I will study and get the flying license if there is one. I will study the way to read the winds and weather. Then I will practice in a smaller setting as long as it takes until I am ready to fly for real.

3.) Blended Learning is a new term for what is known as a hybrid learning experience. It takes an in person class where you learn with a teacher one on one and it adds a portion of the class online. I think that the advantage of this type of learning in high school would be to give the student more control over their time and what they can do outside of school. It also would give them more classes to choose from and more challenging work.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1. I would learn the job by observing my coworkers on the first week or two on the job and try to research online how someone in my position is expected to act. I would work diligently to get better at my craft, be it folding shirts or flipping burgers, just so I could try and earn a promotion and move up the ladder.

    2. I'd go on google and look up all kinds of videos on YouTube about how to fly a hot air balloon and how you'd be able to get a hold of a hot air balloon. I'd go on forums and ask other people who fly hot air balloons their advice on how I should go about my goal.

    3. Blended learning is where you mix traditional learning with modern, more computer-assisted learning to better appeal to the modern student and their attraction to technologies like computers. High schoolers would benefit highly from this, because we're always using our technologies in class anyway, so the chance to use them in class for a more engaging classroom experience would be much more appealing to us and increase our chances of getting something out of the class we're taking.

  18. 1.I would go by the old principle practice makes perfect, I would work my hardest and try to get a way better understanding of my job and be my best at that job. I would also go and work with the others workers to see how they handle their jobs and to see how I can handle my job.

    2. If I were to fly a hot air balloon I would start by learning more about flying the device I would pay for a class teaching me how to fly a hot air balloon. Then I would buy a hot air balloon and finally I would proceed to flying my balloon.

2.If I were to fly a hot air balloon I would learn more about it and take a class about the hot air balloon. Then I would attempt to fly a hot air balloon virtually and finally fly a hot air balloon.

    3. Blending learning allows a student to take more of a virtual learning experience rather than a typical one it allows the student to be more hands on and to also make the student learn more while having fun and beginning to mature.

  20. 1. I would learn the job by observing and learning. They would teach me how to do my job. I would have to practice every day until i become as good as any other employee. I would become better and better until i get promoted to higher paying jobs.
    2. I would go on the internet and look up as much as i can about flying a hot air balloon. I would have to buy a hot air balloon so I would have to look up the prices and other objects required to fly it. I would need to learn about each part and what it does, kind of like an air plane.
    3. What is Blended Learning? Blended Learning integrates face-to-face classroom time with online learning. It combining the effectiveness of the classroom with technology-enhanced online materials.

  21. 1. Well hopefully I had studied this job and the requirements, and on my first day I would ask some of the other workers there how they did their, jobs if they had any tips or suggestions.

    2. I am almost 100 % sure that flying a hot air balloon is not something I could look up on the internet, I would use the internet to find a professional who could show me how to work the balloon and what everything does and how to be safe. After much time of studying and practice, I would then take flight!

    3. When modern day technology to the class room environment using it to accelerate and improve the learning process.

  22. 1. Any job a person could do would have to be learned. One can not just know how to do something, so I would attempt to find someone who knows how to do the job or do some internet research. Both would make my experience better and increase my chances of getting the job.

    2. The implictions of danger in the job require the pilot to be skilled to avoid a crash, so I would get help from a proffessional so as to be sure of the actions I must make to avoid disaster. If some sort of optional training is available somewhere nearby, I would definitely try to sign up for it.

    3. Blended learning is how we, as students, use technology to learn in so many new ways. Technology allows use to learn in ways that were not available to previous generations.

  23. 1) in my first day in a job teaching has to happen. i would first watch someone do it, try to retain as many variables (problems they faced) and try it myself. should i need help, then i would go to that person and try and find some resolution.

    2) i would plan by taking courses maybe, learning the dynamics of said balloon. i would explore simulations and learn how to handle different situations that might occur. i would learn how to use the balloon and how certain weather affects can effect the flight

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1.) if I were to go to a new job and learn the whole position I would ask other employs how to do it or ask my boss and in order to get better I would practice as much as I could in order to make it perfect
2.) if I were trying to fly a hot air balloon I would take classes to get me ready so I know how to do it then mabey I could do a hot air baloon simulator to get a feel of the conditions
3.) blended learning would help in a classroom situation (especially high school) so much because teens always want to be on technology and now they can. it will also allow more hands on projects in class because lectures can be done online or by dvd which is known as a flipped classroom

    ReplyDelete
  25. 1. Well the job I want to do I would have been preparing for all my life. I have made countless other shorts where I've learned from all my mistakes and all of it would culminate into my final product which would be a movie. First day on the set I would say we'd be doing the scenes we could do (most likely scenes actors won't be able to refuse later after we can't replace him) at the time.

    2. I would use Google tremendously. I would be looking up advice on how to fly one and how to handle one. How safe it would be to bring people along with no hands on experience. Simultaneously I would be saving up money to buy (probably rent actually) one.

    3. This is similar to what we were trying to do last year with the IPads. Do I think it would be productive? Like I said last year, yes if the students freedoms were restricted on the device.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 1. If I was trying to get a job that I wanted, I would most likely try to gain as much knowledge I can on the subject or even try it in my free time. What I strive to become is a cartoonist, so I constantly spend time drawing and trying new techniques that MY art style. That when a person sees it, they know it's Keith U. who drew it. I would try everything in my power to have a company hire me to do cartooning for them by doing something out of the ordinary and creative.

    2. Taking courses on flying a hot air balloon would be the most important step if you tried to do it during the upcoming summer. You can use the internet for tips and safety if you tried flying by yourself.

    3. Blended learning is when you begin researching and taking in as much information as you can even before you're given a task. When you use every possible resource available to you and stock your brain full of knowledge.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 1). well with any new experience it is very important to be very observant and focused. i would watch others around me and do my best to follow them, but most importantly i would ask critical important questions and not be afraid to.

2). first i would find someone with conman knowledge of hot air balloons maybe take a flight with them and ask questions, then i would do some independent research until the time came.

3). blended learning i the idea of having regular physical classes but also having technology and other things mixed into a rigorous course. i don't belive that this is a god way to teach a class

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1. If I was entering a new job, there would be a few things I'd have to do to learn. I would watch and work with my co-workers to get familiar with the job. It's always helpful to work with someone who preforms better than you so that you can learn. Second, I would do some research outside of work. Whenever I try and learn something I'm exited about, I'll spend a long time reading and looking up similar things to boost my performance.

    2. If I wanted to "fly and air balloon by next summer" I would do just as I said above. I would go online and read about the different mechanics of an air balloon. I would find images of all the different styles and categories; and I would watch videos on people who have learned to fly air balloon and learn their tips and strategies.

    3. Blended learning is where we incorporate technology to make an overall better and more fulfilling learning experience. Its like have hands on projects where YOU interact with things to figure out how they work instead of being told it over and over. This makes schooling more independent and more engaging.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 1. I would observe the other employees and take into account all their behaviors and how they dress and basically the daily routine of the place. If I thought something wasn't right I would ask someone that knows.

    2. If I wanted to fly a hot air ballon I would make sure that I have the proper licensing for it and the proper budget to attain a hot air ballon and the sand bags and the means to transport it. Then I would need to find a location where I could fly and make sure it is legal to do so.

    3. Blended learning is you use technology to gain knowledge about subjects that you are already taking a class about or having some physical learning experience. This could be important in high school so that you become more knowledgable about the topics that are discussed in you classes so that you can get better grades on test and have a deeper understanding of the subject.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 1.) Just the obvious, you'd have to be suitable for that certain work environment, be able to communicate with co-workers (if applies) and have the skills to do the job properly and not get off task.
2.) For one, I don't think I'd be able to fly a hot air balloon without giving in to the urges to crash it into a lake. BUT other than that, I would take a course from professionals who actually know what they're doing, practice, and get a license. After all that, I'll have to get a permit to launch and land it somewhere (preferably a lake with lots of confetti).
3.) Blended learning is just like taking an online class, but with a very big variety of choices to take a course from. As in online, I mean you can interact with many different tech devices to achieve your desired learning. If we added this to high school, I'd think kids would misuse the devices for their own gaming, but there could also be instance where children have strong feelings for what they want to obtain.

  31. 1: If it were my first day upon any job, the ability to participate in some form of blended learning would be the perfect opportunity to become instantly more proficient at whatever I was doing. It would allow me to not only get a much faster start at actually being able to do work, but it would also allow me to work and learn wherever I wanted at whatever pace I would like to work at. I feel that this would be very beneficial to any new job.

2: If I wanted to be able to fly a hot air balloon by next summer, I would be able to achieve this rather easily through the use of blended learning. By using the resources I have online to pursue this goal, I would be able to quickly learn the basics simply by looking around at websites that describe this subject, which would then allow me to finish my learning of the matter in less time than any other way would make it possible.

3: Blended learning is the ability to learn through both a teacher within a school ground, and then being able to continue that which you are learning by going online once you reach home. This allows the learner to have the ability to proficiently receive expertise in whichever area they are learning. This would be very helpful within Shadow Mountain to the students for all of these many reasons, and the ease with which they would now be able to learn.

  32. 1. My first day on a job, I would ask workers with experience to guide me while not conveying that I know absolutely nothing. Any questions I had I could easily find a solution to by simple online research or a coworker with knowledge in the field. Through experience and practice I would become better at the job, being able to apply the knowledge I have gained.

    2. If I were to plan to fly a hot air balloon by next summer much research and planning would need to be done. I could apply blended learning by researching locations and local events in which I could do such. I could compare pricing and figure out which plan would be best for me. After doing so, I may contact friends or relatives or any people I know asking if they have flown hot air balloons and ask what their experience was like and how they went about doing it.

    3. Blended learning is a form of obtaining information through technological means rather than through something such as a textbook in the hope that it would be much more engaging. One of the major advantages of blended learning would be the ability to obtain information from multiple sources to determine whether or not the facts you are given are actually factual. Through blended learning students of the 21st century would become much more engaged as it is focused around what they grew up with and something they can easily access and understand.

  33. 1. On the first day of my new job I would try and figure it out without help in the beginning but if the situation arises I will ask for help or a explanation on how to do what i need to do. I never really need to ask for help or instructions unless its required or if I cant figure out what I need to do. Personally I find this to be the easiest way to learn something new because learning for experience wont interfere with anyone else's job unless I require the help.

    2. If I wanted to fly a hot air balloon by next summer I would need to research the best weather conditions in the state or country I was in and then I would have to study about hot air balloons before I tried to undertake something like this. I would also have to plan to buy or rent a hot air balloon to use at the time I would be riding it. Then I would contact people I know and see if they wanted to fly with me in my hot air balloon.

    3. Blended learning is were you use technological devices to study or learn rather then a text book. This form of learning is very useful because its more engaging and helpful when you need to look something you go on Google rather then a table of contents. That what people who take online classes do they learn through blended learning and I think it actually helps a student learn more because there engaged into it rather then going though a textbook.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 1.1. I would learn how to do this job by practicing it in school as much as possible and after school is over I would go to a collage or university to learn more. It would make it easier to get a job by learning some of it before going to collage than in collage you could get more into it. I really want to become an auto mechanic because I like to learn new things about cars and take them apart and rebuild them and get a better understanding on how a car works.

    2. The first thing that I would do would be to take classes on how to fly a hot air balloon. Then I would see how much it would be to either rent one or build one. Next I would have to get the proper licensing the fly it.

    3. Blended learning is a form of obtaining information through technological means rather than through something such as a textbook in the hope that it would be much more engaging because a text book does not have all the new information that the internet and other devices have.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 1.) On my first day of a new job I would listen to everything my boss and coworkers say. If they have any tips I would remember them the best I could and then come up with strategies on my own while I train.

2.) I would research all about hot air balloons, maybe take a few lessons and save up some money in order to pay for it.

3.) Blended learning is a method or leaning using technology. This is really cool and really helpful seeing as previous generations. I really like learning this way. I already use it for many classes and projects I have. I mainly use it when researching a topic I like and want to know more about.
