15 Code Week

Coding

Watch a movie or two.  Answer this question:

Why should I care about coding?

Movie 1 - How to teach yourself to code.  (Yes its long, but it's really informative.  Watch it all or watch parts of it.  You will learn a lot about coding in general.)  Why should you care about coding?

Movie 2 - How do you start to program?  We saw this parts of this movie in class.  Lots of different perspectives.  Why should you care about coding?

Movie 3 - Don't learn to code, Learn to solve problems.  Crazy guy, straight talk.  Why should you care about coding?

Follow the directions about blog homework: 100 to 200 well written words.  Critically think about the movie you watched, reference the some of the information you viewed, and write about how the information might apply to you personally.

One question:  Why should I care about coding?

  2. 1. So How to teach yourself to coding the video show you how you don't see your database and why it's important but the one website he show them how to work your framework and you care what you are learning this man is show them what they need to work on it and show them the Ruby on Rails and how deserve a framework and how to work on it.

2.the different perspectives in this video it sound easy but it is hard they give you tips and that they are just saying it is not hard you just need to learn and have a fun time to learn code and hear what they are saying in the video and just listen what they just saying and it would you what is the greater doubt of coding .

3.To this video is people don’t want to do code and they want have the code for them and code is important because have a skill in coding this is biggest that people think and if you have skill in java you can know a different code like c++ you can read and writ and that's and that why we should care for code

  3. 1.) Coding is important because the internet is built from it, every OS has code, it is the framework for all software, without it we wouldn't have windows, or google.
2.) To start programming I go to a website, such as Code.org or i go to some other program to teach me, classes or a downloadable program.
3.) I should care about coding because I want to be able to make games, or websites, so i can contribute to the internet, so i can possibly make a program that will make millions, all backed by lines of code.

  4. 1) Coding is an important tool nowadays, in our world we almost run on only electronics which the way all electronics run is a form of code, Code is used for games, its used to work machinery, robots and any machinery.
[ but funny enough this sort of thing is ruining human contact and causing us to separate more ]
    2) Well like i said in the first part is coding controls everything any machinery and any system in that coding has become a special part of life, and if you get into a job with coding you can earn a lot of money in it.
    3) i wanna care more cause its so freaking cool to do like seriously most people that go play with code are always like 85% of the time like "lets so it more man, its so cool, like that Rex guy"
with coding you can and will do so much for the world the more people like coding the more advanced we can become
    thats why coding is important

  5. 1. You definitely should care about coding even if you are not going to use it because it is a very important skill now since most of the devices and objects we use use code to actually function. Plus there are lots of jobs where they hire you to code or where coding will give you a larger advantage or make things easier for you. When you think about it coding is really cool and more people should know how to do it since it kind of helps run our everyday lives. All the machinery that we use is usually run with code which makes me realize more people should know it to understand how everything works in our world nowadays.

  6. 1. Well coding is going to become important as technology grows. Coding is used to command and make technology operate. Since technology is just continuing to grow with no signs of stopping, the industry and work needed for coders is only growing along with the rapid growth of technology. Even if you don't want a job in coding some jobs even require you to know some coding even though you won't use it. It's important to know how computers and programs and what not operate under code.

  7. I watched the second movie that was produced and used by code.org to attract people to coding. The question you posed to us was why we should care about coding. I think it comes down to the basis of it becoming an essential part of our modern society. Within the video, it talked about how nearly a million computer science jobs are not being filled and, although the number may have gone down since the video came out a year ago, I still understand that these shortages need to stop if we are to continue down the current societal path we’ve chosen. Technology and code has pushed its way into every aspect of our lives whether it be school, agriculture, manufacturing and so much more. The idea of coding has no longer become some nerdy job someone does just because they can. Coding has become an essential part of our culture and people need to learn to code to maintain our current way of life and expand into more than we could ever imagine.

  8. Well in the first video, the speaker says that if you have an idea, do it. If a company builds it, they will expect full ownership. Which is completely fair. They put all the work into it. They deserve full ownership. And if you have someone else build it for you, you're not guaranteed the product you asked for. Code can be difficult. So if you have someone else build your product, they might mess up and just leave it at that. And they expect to be paid too. So if you really think about it, they deserve ownership, too. But you could save that money and build the thing yourself.

Maybe another good idea is to bring this idea of yours to a company that you already work for. Maybe you'll be able to negotiate with them about ownership of the product.

Another reason that someone should learn how to code is because technology is advancing so quickly in the world. Everyone is needing someone else to fix this for them. Figure that out for them. For those people who let technology become a big part of their lives and don't know how to code, there's going to be a lot of struggles for them.

  9. the reason why you should care about coding is because most people don’t know what coding is and some people might think that coding is hard by it is not because coding is pretty much telling the computer what you want it to do and just about everything requires programming like for example in video game you have to program the character to move and the enemies to attack. the reason why you care about coding is that it can help you get a job that has to do with programming and half of the job deal with programming and coding is easy to learn you don’t have to be a genius to learn how to code anyone can learn how to code

  10. I watched the second movie because I was interested in it the most. In the video I learned a lot I have never known. The question you asked why is coding important. My answer to that question is that coding is important because without it we wouldn't have technology like computers or ipods. All technology runs off some type of code. With our society today we are using more technology then any other generation which means that we need coders and as the video explained it we have a shortage of 1,000,000. It is amazing in my mind that there is that many coding jobs out there and shows how much how society depends on coding and the technology it creates. An example is Youtube, Youtube has over a billion users a month and not everyone knows it runs on python. In the next few years we are going to need more coders in maintain technology and sites or even to create new technology. Back to the question coding is important because it is going to change everyone's life somehow in some way.

  11. You should care about coding because it is such a big tool to use with today's technology. Just by knowing coding you can be ahead of the game and you can use it to your advantage or just to create something great. The second movie had the most information about coding in my opinion. One of the major things that I learned is that all of technology runs off of code. Most people have no idea how much code is around them everyday that someone else had to write and That is amazing.

  12. I learned from these videos that I should learn to code simply so that I can solve my problems. The guy in the third video talked about how learning to code just to know how to code will get incredibly boring, and you will probably give up quickly. You need to have a real reason to code, and be excited about it. This guy said that when he started to code, his problem was in math class, so he used TI Basic to make programs on his calculator to check his math, and he was able to get started coding form there. So even if you do not plan on making a career out of coding or programming, you should learn coding just in case you ever need some problem solving to be done, or just need a tool to help you out.

  14. One should care about coding because, it's a way to solve a problem or your, mabey more than one. You should care about coding because it should get you excited to solve a problem that you are currently facing, one you wish to overcome greatly. That's how you should start coding according to the third video, and I couldn't agree more. The problem with coding is that it's not too fun or easy, if it was just a fun, easy skill that everyone could learn in a week, then every one and there mom would be doing it, but it's not. Coding is complicated, boring, and hard. The way around that is to associate coding to a problem or a goal in your life, it give it dive and purpose. You should care about coding because it’s it's the answer to a problem or goal we all have. Just think how cool it would be if we could turn that little program idea into a real thing, or make that game you came up with, or something entirely different.

  15. Coding is how modern people can solve problems, form ideas, create an infinite amount of projects and programs and build websites to hold and endorse them, and change the world around them as humanity grows more reliant and steeped in the digital world. Many people pass by the opportunity to master or even vaguely learn the basics of computer science and language, prompting a higher focus on employees that do know, but eventually everyone should learn how, if only just to keep connected to and understand the world we are growing into.

  16. I think that I should care about coding because it seems to be the base of all the technologies in my everyday life and in today's world. Technology is becoming a bigger and bigger part of the everyday life of everybody. Coding just enables us to solve problems regarding this growing situation. If one knows how to code, they then know how to better manipulate the technological elements in everything that they do. It also helps to create a better understanding. Also, if we know how to code, we can save a lot of money because we wont have to hire programmers and whatnot to do things for us that are made simple if we only knew how to code.

  17. Coding is used pretty much everywhere nowadays. Coding is an important tool in the technological advancement of today. It is almost as important as learning to read and write. I should learn to code because off all of the opportunities it can bring. There are so many jobs and careers that are out there that require someone to know how to code, and I want to be able to do those. Coding is very important this day and age, and less people are working with their hands, and more with their mind. Almost everything runs on code, as well. Almost every device we use or something using electricity has some sort of code behind it. Coding is also a useful tool to know because it puts your brain into a mindset of solving problems. Most of the time, your code isn't going to work the first time. A good coder will find those problems and work backwards to find a way to fix it.

  18. I watched the third movie in this list. This video is of a man named Kevin, who is an experience coder, and he answers the question "Good resources the tech myself codingz?" But in a way he also explains why you should care about code. Kevin explains that code is a wonderful problem solver, its meant to make it easier for you to get from point a to b. However just learning code so you can solve any problem is pointless and you will get nowhere real quick. Instead find a problem you wish to solve first, then find the appropriate language to solve that problem. So why should you care about code? Because it can solve problems for you, you just need to find the problem first.

  19. Coding can be very important depending on your career and what you like to do. Especially at this time in life since a lot of jobs involve coding so it can defiantly be a good thing to know how to do. coding is involved in everything that involves technology so you can use it in your free time or as a job or career. Coding also doesn't require that much skill which is really nice. You just need to be understanding and have a basic understanding of math and of characters on a keyboard. Coding can be simple but effective, you just have to give it a chance.

  20. Coding is important because in the next 10 years there will be 1,400,000 jobs available in coding, every type of field has some type of coding in it also the future will be heavily dependent on coding, you can make websites and applications you don't have to be intelligent to know how to code. It is important to learn code because it helps you solve problems and you can make websites. Technology is becoming even more advanced and its going to need code. You can have an online website and make money off of add revenue, you can make applications which have been making a lot of money lately.

  21. You should care about coding because it is possibly the single most important thing in our society today. Almost everything runs on technology that has been coded. Everything we rely on wouldn't exist if we didn't have technology. Phones, machines, everything. Also, coding is a huge new opportunity for kids to have jobs. Most adults currently don't know how to code, but the children are learning it in school and it makes new job opportunities for them. Applications of coding range from phone games to nuclear missiles. It's applications really are endless, and more people should care about coding and think about learning to code.

  22. Coding is the foundation of the modern world. From websites, to games, to advertisements, coding is everywhere. You cannot escape it. I watched the video entitled “Don’t learn to code, Learn to solve problems.” This video was interesting in the fact that is brought up multiple facets and applications of coding that people do not often explore. He believes that coding is simply a tool to get to a bigger picture. I thought that this was a really good way to think about it. Coding can be used in so many different capacities for so many different projects that it almost seems demeaning to group all of it together. All of the languages have things in common but have their own nuances. He says that people should learn coding in order to solve problems, which I find myself agreeing with. If you simply learn to code for the sake of learning to code, you are likely going to become bored with it. If you are not actively working towards a goal, the work can become tedious. This is the same with anything in life and I don’t know why I hadn’t applied the idea to coding before. I still believe that coding is an important tool to have in today’s world due to its prevalence in society. However, to truly “learn” coding, you have to apply it to something. What good is learning the alphabet if you don’t use it to express your thoughts?

  23. You should care about coding because it is basis for nearly everything around us. Your phone, all the apps on it, your computer, google, social media, your favorite video game, none of it would function unless it was coded to do what it does. Coding is a very useful skill to learn because it involves all programming, offers lots of jobs, and teaches you how to think. Learning how to code could mean the success of your entire life, because the sky is the limit when it comes to code. Look at all these filthy rich companies, app creators, etc. like facebook, where the creator of that(which had to know how to code) is now a billionaire, google, microsoft etc. Depending on how far you go into coding decides how successful you can be, and determines what job you could get.

  24. Coding is in almost everyday lives of people, even though they may not know it, websites, app, and everything else in between are made using coding. Coding has basically made the internet what it is today.Everyone should care about coding.
