Fix a problem. Win an award.

Another exciting year for the James Dyson Award - 501 projects but only one winner.  James Dyson is reviewing the top 15 projects and will announce the international winner and two runners-up on the 8th of November.
               JAMES DYSON WEBSITE

1.  Go to the website and look at the top 15 finalists. YOU pick the winner and two runners-up*!

2.  What are the James Dyson Awards and why, as GenYES students, are we researching these?

3.  How do the US entries compare to the rest of the world?  Were any of them your pick?

4.  To YOU, what are the most important aspects of developing a new technology?  How much money it can make?  Benefiting others?  Expanding communication?  Fixing a problem? Changing the way we work, play, compute, travel, learn?   Or....?  Was this part of your criteria for picking winners?

  1. 1.)I believe that The Beth project, the project designed to help bring affordable comfortable prosthetic limbs to people in need below poverty level, and the Reach and Match project, the project designed to help Blind children learn braille quickly and easily, are the best 2 "James Dyson" runner ups.

2.) The James Dyson award is and award given to a person or group of people who have made the most advances in the bettering of man-kind. We as GenYES students, are technically giving back to the community via technology, and we could have a lot to learn from these nominees.

3.)The U.S.A Projects were similar to themselves, but not really to the global nominees. I did choose the BETH Project as one of my favorite nominees but that seems to be the only similarity.

4.) I made my choices based on which ones I felt like were the most applicable and the ones that also seemed the most reasonable. Developing new technology should always have that end goal in mind.

    3. On question 1 -- You need to pick 1 winner AND 2 runner-ups! Neither of you did that!

But both of you have excellent thoughts! Wow.

  2. 1) After reviewing each of the 15 finalists, I decided to go with the O2 Pursuit and the Revival Vest. Both of these inventions seem like great start for a better future.

    2) The James Dyson Awards was created to challenge students of all ages to create innovative and new ideas and in return give them a substantial amount of money.

    3) The three U.S invention in my own opinion weren't as great as ones from New Zealand and Australia. Those were the countries my choices originated from.

    4) The most essential aspects I feel new inventions must possess are that they can assist people in their everyday lives along with making life easier and more efficient. In addition, they should also potentially enhance the work proficiency in various firms across the globe. Its final aspect would need to be its ability to cause a shift in the global supply curve for companies with its technological power. Money doesn't have any relevance with picking an invention. Its all about how life will be improved.

  4. 1. I n my opinion, after looking at the top 15, I think that the step hoe should win. F or the two runner ups i think that should go to the GiraDora and the reach and math projects.
    2. The Dyson award is an award that is given to students who create the technology for tomorrow. This award is active in 18 countries and is for the promotion of engineering.
    3. The U.S. submissions were on the same level as the others and were almost indistinguishable.
4.The most important part of creating new technology is to make sure that it benefits the world so to lead to even an better tech in the future. This will increase the rate of technological advancement exponentially and hopefully improve everyones quality of life.

  5. 1. I think the life vest is the number 1 because it saves people from drowning to death, even when underwater or scuba diving. The 2 runners-up are the following suitcase, 'cause God knows how much I hate carrying suitcases at the airport, and the air-powered motorbike, because air is a cheap resource. It's everywhere.

    2. The James Dyson awards is a contest between students all over the world to invent something that solves a problem. As GenYES students, that probably does include us, so we might invent something and submit it in the contest.

    3. I didn't pick any of the American inventions for the winners, but they could help. The prosthetic leg thing looked interesting how people find a prosthetic leg that fits them like picking out shoes.

    4. The most important aspects to inventing is efficiency for building, and how well it works. Even if the thing is cheap and affordable, it still has to have some sort of use. The siphoning tube thing didn't look like something that would be used very often, but rather discarded.

    ReplyDelete
  6. 1.Life vest is a good thing when it comes to water, it saves your life when it comes to swimming, diving, ect. The two runner ups would be the beth project and the O2 pursuit.

    2. It was created to test young minds to help out the society of the world.

    3. that one was ok. I like the others then that one only because they have a better Idea.

    4. The advantage to making better technology is more experience. It will make industries millions of dollars to produce products.

  7. 1. I think the winner in my eyes is the Safety Net Escape Rings. They win for me because it seems like the best way to stop the extinction of fish from over fishing in places like Lake Victoria and lake Mead. The two runners up for me are The BETH Project and The Smart Aid.
    2. The James Dyson Awards are basically awards for someone who creates something to solve a problem. We as GenYES students are are researching the projects because we help people too, and maybe have the potential to win this by solving a problem.
    3. Yes, The BETH Project was one of my runners up. But it seems that many more projects are coming out of European countries.
    4. My criteria for new technologies was to see which one was the most cost effective, and which one was the most beneficial to mankind.

    ReplyDelete
  8. 1.) My winner would have to be the SMART AID. It is a revolutionary idea that can save peoples lives. My runner ups are the BETH project and the Safety Net project.

2.) The awards are for solving any problem. We as Genyes students are researching this because we help solve problems that involve technology.

3.) We only had one finalist project from the U.S.A. Can you believe that?! I thought we would have at least 4-5 finalists. Maybe as Americans we are lazier than the rest of the world.

4.)I think some of the most important aspects of new technology is: how is it helpful, is this for personal benefit, will it make life easier or will it just make us lazier, and final is it a sound idea.

  9. 1. Go to the website and look at the top 15 finalists. YOU pick the winner and two runners-up*!
    A: Winner: SMART AID
    Runners-up: Alto and O2 PURSUIT

    2. What are the James Dyson Awards and why, as GenYES students, are we researching these?
A: It is a competition where you enter new inventions that will solve a problem.

    3. How do the US entries compare to the rest of the world? Were any of them your pick?
A: From what I can tell they did well but there is no way to tell until the results are released. I picked an american project, the BETH project as a runner-up.

    4. To YOU, what are the most important aspects of developing a new technology? How much money it can make? Benefiting others? Expanding communication? Fixing a problem? Changing the way we work, play, compute, travel, learn? Or....? Was this part of your criteria for picking winners?
A: They judge it based on a panal of experienced designers and engineers but, what it really boils down to is if they can get a profit from it even if the money is from the government paying for the less fortunate.

  10. My final option would have to be the Revival Vest because it could save lives and assist people with swimming. If they mess up, death will never be an option. One other runner up would have to be the ReWired project. Seemed slightly interesting.

  11. 1. Balde a Balde: Safe Agua as winner, because it will help the world with water. O2 PURSUIT as runner up. Smart Aid as runner up.

    2. The James Dyson Award is an international design award that "celebrates, encourages and inspires the next generation of design engineers" It is a competition for creating knew inventions that will help the world improve.

    3. One of them was my pick, but other than that the rest were from various places over the word. It seemed like more were from other countries than the US.

    4. For me inventing something knew would have to be something that is completely revolutionary. Not just a slight change to something and it has to somehow improve the way we live.

  12. 1. I go with smart Aid for winner then O2 pursuit and finally Hop! The following suitcase
    2. the Dyson awards a re for a new technology invented by students that solves a real world problem
3.Okay wow they are not as good or as cool and I did not pick any of them as a result
4.The most important part of developing a new technology is definitively to solve a problem and help move our understanding of the benefit of technology forward

  13. 1.The "O2 Pursuit" is a great idea and it wins, runner up is the "Balde a Balde",and third place is "BETH project".

2.The James Dyson Awards kids for designing things to help the world. It also awards innovation for us to move forward.

3.One of mine were my pick but they were mostly from other countries.

4.Innovation thats my answer.we can fix a lot of the worlds problems just with innovators and inventions. We could fix U.S problems and create technology thats more efficient, helpful, and greater. We as a group can make the world a better place.

  14. 1.) I voted for the revival vest, as it was an excellent idea that i believe could save a lot of lives.
2.) The James Dyson Award is an award that "celebrates, encourages and inspires the next generation of design engineers" It's important to us because if we keep up the work on projects like we are, we could be contestants.
3.) There were very few US entries. and I didn't choose a US option, mine was from New Zealand.
4.) I think that developing a new technology is a very interesting prospect. As for money, it's not a primary concern for me. I'd be more interested in making something that could help people.

  15. 1. I think the winner should be emergency airdrop. The two runner ups would be O2 pursuit and smart aid.

      2. The Dyson award are for people to be innovative and create new ideas.

      3. Personally, all of the projects on the sight aren't very good or are irrelevant to me.

      4. The most important thing to me is to help people and change the way we do thing, like sixth sense. That would change a lot about how we use our technology.

It’s run by the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson’s charitable trust, as part of its mission to encourage the next generation of design engineers to be creative, challenge and invent. 17. 1) Winner: Emergency Airdrop
Runners-up: GiraDora and the BETH project.

    2) It is an award that recognizes people's inventions that solve a problem. We are looking at this because of GenYES because this is what we do, we try and fix the problem.

    3) I think that the U.S. did pretty well and two of my finalists were from the U.S.

    4) The most important criteria for me is that it solves a problem, a fairly major one, and that it is sort of cost-effective. I used this in picking my finalists because it is important about the problem that it solves.

3.Okay wow they are not as good or as cool and I did not pick any of them as a result That was really sad to see we could definitely do something way cooler than a lot of those

2.) a award for people that have invented something that has bettered humanity.

    3.) no i didn't, i think they did ok.

4.) benefiting other people and making the world a better place, the money is just a bonus.

    3. Most of them seem like they are from other countries, which is weird considering we are the second best country in the world. Behind Canada of course.

    4. When it boils down to it, really technology is about benefiting others. With this money will come. The ones I picked either benefited someone directly, having water anywhere, or benefited society, clean transportation.

  21. 1) I think the winner should be; O2 Pursuit. I think that it was cool to see a dirt bike to be powered by O2.

    2) The two runner ups I would choose would be; Rewired and Reach and Match. I thought that these were cool ideas but not as cool as making a dirt bike run on O2. I thought that they were both cool ideas but not as revolutionary as O2 Pursuit.

    3) I thought that they were kind of cooll but it seems like they aren't as good as the others outside the U.S. ones that entered.

    4) I think that we always say that we are looking for a new source of energy instead of using oil. We say this every time gas prices rise and then, when they come down, we quit looking. I think this makes sense because we ned oil for everything we mass produce just about. I think the money we need to make new technology would have to be quite a bit but, it kind of depends on what we are looking to produce.

2 .The James Dyson Award is an international student design award running in 18 countries. It’s run by the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson’s charitable trust, as part of its mission to encourage the next generation of design engineers to be creative, challenge and invent.
    International Winner:
    - £10,000 the student or student team (of up to four members)
    - £10,000 for their university department
    - James Dyson Award trophy and Certificate
    3. I feel like they compare equally if not better and one of my three are American
    4. My top three helped out others with problems such as being blind and deaf, to me this is the most important thing that technology can do... Saving lives and increasing the lives of the disabled

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1. 1st The BETH Project. 2nd STEPHOE- Working Down To Earth.

    2. If you win you get £10,000 the student or student team (of up to four members). 2nd place gets£2,000. We are researching it because its a project that supports ingenuity and creativity.

    3. The US ones weren't nearly as good as some of the others entries from like Australia.

    4. The most essential part of a new invention would b if it can be used in everyday life and not be another useless invention.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1. I think that the revival vest is the coolest invention because of it's ability to save lives in a dangerous environment. The runners up are the emergency airdrop and the balde a balde: safe agua.

    2. The James Dyson Award is given to people who design an invention to help others and that solves a major problem.

    3. Although there are entries from other countries, the majority of them are from the US. The US still has more innovative ideas than the other countries, but I did really liked the idea of the emergency airdrop which was from a different country.

    4. I feel that the important thing about inventions is that they can actually do good for people instead of just being something cool that has very limited or non beneficial use. The inventions all on this list are good ideas because they are all directed towards helping people. All of the projects were good ideas, but some were more beneficial than others.

    3rd place: Revival Vest

    2. The Dyson awards is an international student design competition where students design a prototype that solves a problem. The program seeks to inspire next generation engineers to innovate and be creative. As genyes students we could be the next generation of these engineers.

    3. I think we were on par with the other countries and the winner i picked was from the USA.

    4. I think that new technology has to solve problems we see in the world today instead of just creating technology for pleasure. Of course if technology followed this course it wouldn't make as much money as it does today because the problems that need solved need to be done and thus would not be profitable. This was one of my criteria for the winners, I chose the safe agua project because it solved the problem of not having running water.

  27. 1. After reviewing the entries, I have to say the GiraDora human powered washing machine is my pick for first place. The runners up would have to be the following suitcase and the SafteyNet.
    2. This award is given to students whom of which's designs are chosen.
    3. All of the ideas are really good. The GiraDora was one of my picks. The GiraDora stood out to me the most because it could be used to help other countries as well.
    4. To me, the most important aspect of creating a new invention is weather or not it will be cheap enough for the general public to benefit from it.

    2. An award for someone who have bettered humanity/society in the best way.
    3. There were a couple U.S. projects, i chose the Beth project and thats a U.S. entry.

      3. There were a couple of U.S. projects, my third place choice, the Beth Project, is a U.S. entry.

4.In my opinion, benefitting others and making money for people and making travel easier and changing the way we work are the most important aspects. I was looking at things that would help others and the community when i was choosing winners.

  29. 1- Id say that my pick for the best invention is the simple SafetyNet - Escape Rings. It provides a way for fish who are endangered and are not the target, to escape. The runners up would have to be Gira Dora and the automatic suitcase.
2- The Jim dyson award is giving to the winners of the project. And we as genyes students are doing them to give back to our community.
3- The US ones were not as impressive as say, the ones from Australia. The USA really needs to get its game up.
4-Some of the more important aspects for creating new devices is things such as determination and time. In order to make the device, you need time, and if you have that, you need to be determined. If you have both those things, you are set on the road to becoming an inventor.

  30. 1. I think that the revival vest was the coolest invention because it could save millions of lives, and the ambulance and hospitals could use this too.

    2. The James Dyson Award is an award that promotes, encourages, and inspires next generation design engineers. I think it is an important kind of award, because we need to keep on finding new technology and keep making more projects and finding new ideas on how we can improve what we already have.

    3. There weren't very many US entries at all, the country that made the revival vest was New Zealand.

    4. If I were to make a new technology I would want it to help people in hospitals or something like that. Thats one of the reasons why i liked the revival vest idea, is because it helps people in a good way, it's not just like a new type of computer or something. I would want to make a little money from it, because there might be some countries that couldn't afford something like this that they might need.

  31. My first place is the BETH project, and the runner ups are the Balde a Balde and GiraDOra safe water projects.

The James Dyson Award is an award given to someone who invents a new product, which benefits the world. They range from many different aspects of help, but all help mankindin all. It is important that we study and work on these products, as we can learn from it, and maybe even create a product which will help our fellow man.
3 There was only three projects from the U.S. but they were the ones I chose. These projects are very helpful for quality everyday life, focussed on improving the lives of less fortunate.
4 I think the most important part of inventing new technology is creativity. I would like to have an original idea that is unique to me, whether it is a new step with existing technology or an entirely new technology. Creativity will allow for a better invention of what I am skilled at, rather than focussing on one goal. Creativity allows me to explore my creation, creating the best result possible.

  32. 1. After I checked out all of the 15 finalists, I had to pick, GiraDora, it's a human powered washing machine, and spin dryer. I would make this the winner because it could help people out with dirty clothing, wash them and dry them. My runners up would be, the self following suit case, and the Emergency air drop, the self following suit case is such a unique design, I just love the idea! And the Emergency air drop could help so many people in disasters!

    2. The James Dyson Award, is for people who want to invent something that could help us out, as Genyes, we are a technology class, we should be learning and choosing whats going on with these rewards!

    3. The US Inventions compared to the world were very different,I didn't really care for them as much as the "out of country ideas".

    4. I Believe Developing a new technology would have to be cheap, workable and strong!, If we ever need to produce a lot for a certain reason, this would help a lot! I would think one that benefits others would be a lot better then one does your self. One that could save someones life or give you care.

  33. 1. I think that the Balde and Balde was pretty cool and that the Giradora was second and that the O2 should be third.

2.The James Dyson Award is held 18 countries. This award is for its job to convince the next generation of how to be creative and invent and also challenge.

    3. The U.S. is on the same level of others and were almost there.

4.What I think is that if I would invent something I would want it to be useful.

  34. 1: My winner is the O2 Pursuit which is, an investigation into the use of air as an alternative fuel in a post petroleum world. . The runner ups I chose are, Revival Aid and Smart Vest!

2:The James Dyson Awards are made to challenge students of any age to create new ideas and in return give them money! As GenYES students we are obviously researching that. As students, making money would be totally awesome.

3: The us did not really have that many entries. My choice i believe comes from france, it is called
LOUIS - The rain pattern as developer.

4:Developing a new technology is one of the hardest things to do. You need the help of other people to get your product finalized. Money to me would be a huge concern. As business man you want to make sure your producing price is wayyyyyyy lower than what you sell your product for (obviously) .I would be interested in making a technology to benefit not only human beings but the world.

  35. 1) In my opinion, the most valuable invention here is the Revival Vest. This could help people who are in airplane crashes and in boats sinking. We do have better protocols than those of the Titanic, but those protocols are because the Titanic sank. Anyway, this could save many lives. The first runner-up would have to be Fil'o. I wouldn't like to be deaf and not be able to hear my children crying or laughing, but this is an alternative. This way, children and deaf parents are closer together and have a stronger bond. The last runner-up would probably have to be Reach & Match. Again, I wouldn't like to be blind and this would help me communicate better with the world I would not be able to see.

    2) The James Dyson award is meant to have students create things and encourage themselves to "be creative, challenge and invent." This is important to GenYES because we could have the ability to enter into this 'contest' and this way we learn something new while being able to understand the award better.

    3) U.S. entries are far too similar. Two of the entries are also about having safe water in Peru. This is too repetitive in my opinion.

    4) Developing new technology could move forward the wrong way or the better way. Gaining money would be considered brownie points, but actually having that new technology out in the world that I created would be satisfying in itself (even though money is totally awesome to have too!). It definitely was part of my criteria, but even something simple (like Reach & Match) could make a huge difference in the world.

  36. 1. The Project that really stood out to me as the BeTH prosthetic socket. This is very beneficial towards people who need it, because it has materials that will fit the knee exactly how it needs to fit, so it is very comfortable and people can get where they need to go in a safely manner. BeTH prosthetic socket is by far the winner. The two runner-ups were the I Hop suitcase and the vest. The I hop suitcase really opened up my eyes, because not a lot of people want to drag around their suit case especially if it's heavy. Just a click of a button from your phone and you have a suit case that will follow you without any problems. The vest is outstanding, because it can save people from drowning. Investing in this vest could save many lives out there and make this world a safer world.

    2. The James Dyson Awards are Different designs and projects that make peoples lives a lot easier . All the projects are beneficial to humans and they help out in many ways. GenYES is researching these projects, because as a class we are brain storming ideas for new inventions and technologies that could really change peoples perspectives on technologies.

    3. The U.S. entries were pretty good but one of them really did stand out. That one was the BeTH's Project.

    4. What really opens up my eye in a technology that i would love to invest in is one that helps people out in a huge way, I am all for making new technology that helps people out and turns there life around in a great way.

  37. 1.) If I had to choose a project I would choose the Reach and Match. The 2 runners up I would choose would be the BETH project and the Fil'o _ Parenting Aid for Deaf Parents and Hearing Children project.
2.) The James Dyson award is an international award created for students. They are supposed to be creative and inventive with there projects. It is meant to challenge students to use technology and create a project.
3.) There were 3 U.S. entries chosen to be in the top 15 projects. I liked one of the projects, the BETH project. The other 2 were both about making safe water to drink. They did not compare as well as the ones from the other countries did.
4.) The most importnat aspects to me was weather or not the project was beneficial to others or not. I also thought the use of technology in their project was an important aspect. The criteria I looked at was the group it aimed to help and how much it helped them. I looked at the design and development of the projects when I was choosing also.

  38. 1. Reviewing and deciding who the two runners ups for the James Dyson project is hard. In my opinion every project is a winning due to the fact everyone is creative and amazing in their own ways. If I was to decide the FIRST, SECOND, and Third place winning I would have to choose "02 Pursuit", "Reach and Match" would come in second, and the "Emergency Airdrop" project would in third.

    2. The James Dyson award is an award that is given to students around the world. Students win the award by inventing new technology that is useful. This is important to GenYES because we (as a class) is based around modern and old technology. We are engineers who are interested in new technological projects.

    3. The James Dyson U.S.A. entires differ in subject compared to the rest of the world. All but two of the U.S.A. entires are based on emergencies and/or Medical reference. I choose a U.S.A. entry; 02 Pursuit.

    4. The most important aspects of developing new technology is to increase human knowledge and design better ways to manage life. New technology is TODAY, everything is based on computers. Therefore MOST of the worlds income is from technology. New Technology benefits others by creating an easier way to take care of your life. I picked my winner due to the fact there isn't anything similar to the "02 Pursuit".

  40. 1. I think that the Balde and Balde was impressive pretty cool and that the Giradora was second and the way it works is just amazing and that the O2 should be third because out of all it way interesting but the Balde and Balde was just better.

2.The James Dyson Award is held in almost about 18 countries. This award is for its job to convince and encourage the next generation on the new technology of how to be creative and invent and also challenge.

3.I think that the U.S. is on the same level of others and were almost there.

4.What I think is that if I would invent something I would want it to be very useful like something like the revive vest so that I would be able to help many other people .

  41. 1. a) The winner is.................. The BETH Project! I chose this as the winner simply for the fact that it could help in a vaster extent. More and more people need prosthetic limbs and 90% of the people are uncomfortable. With this this invention, it will allow a lot more people to become comfortable as it allows them to control the fit to their limb.
    b) First runner up is the escape rings. Fish are getting brought in by mass and having these small fish be unable to escape is a total waste. With this new escape mechanism it will allow these small fish to escape and grow to become big enough for the catch.
    c) Second runner up is O2 pursuit. With this invention, the overall emissions n the air will decrease as well as toxic fumes. The fumes produced by petroleum products is immense and this will allow for that to disappear. The only negative is the immense decrease in power.

    2. James Dyson awards are given to inventions gear towards solving an issue. As GenYES students, we are constantly finding ways to innovate. These inventions are new innovations that directly correlate to what we do in our class. We are trying to do things no one else has seen, as well as these inventors from the Dyson Awards.

    3. The U.S. inventions were geared more towards fixing a world problem that effects in a mass collection. As the other european inventions tend to be of confort and purely enjoyment.

    4. The most important aspect of inventing something is not to make money but to provide an item that is usable by everyone. If it is not something that is applicable to everyday life, then it is probably not a strong invention. It can aslo be something that greatly effects the way we do certain things.

  42. 1. I really like The BETH Project. It wins second is GiraDora Agua and third is O2 pursuit.
    2. It is a way to see how tech in this world is helping and advancing. We are watching this so that we know what is in the world.
    3. The one in the USA are less tech based two of my pics are from USA.
    4. I think that if we have the tech we should use too help people.

  43. 1) I think the o2 project should be the winner it is really cool
The first runner up should be The emergency airdrop that is also pretty cool
The second runner up is LOUIS it is sick
    2) The dyson award is an award that you can win if youre in the dyson competition where students make prototypes to something that will help solve a problem. It is supposed to inspire people to become more creative in the ways they can help society. Genyes students could enter for being INNOVATORS in helping society.
    3) they compare highly the US had a couple entries and theirs were pretty good i picked a US one
    4) A cool new idea that hasnt been seen before by anyone that is cool. Money is a big concern because if you spend a lot of money on making the thing you need enough to come back to even atleast, helping people is a big one too when you help people more people will use whatever it is.

  44. 1. i voted for the best project because it looks like a cool idea and seems pretty affordable and reasonable

2.the james dyson award is an international student design award and is running in 18 different countries it is a charity thing to help raise money and a fun thing for students like me and every one els

3.i thought that the us was somewhat cool but i n my opinion it dosent compare to the other 18 countries the other countries were allot more cooler and seemed better

4.to me the most important aspects of technology is the inventing when people invent something good and creative it may help the world and allot of people when new things are created it helps the world and makes things easy for us like the iphone for example its a portable phone that can give and take calls has web on it apps lot of great things that is something big that helps us.

  46. 1) I love the idea of a revival vest. It would be an amazing idea to save tons of lives, then hospitals and ambulances could use it.
    B) I like smart aid, it also could be helpful for tons of stuff.

    2) The James Dyson awards are inventions towards solving issues. Us as a GenYES students, we are always finding ways to make things better. All these inventions convince us that we do in our class. We do stuff no one else has seen.

    3) USA's technology isn't as good as what we saw from the pictures.

4)I think the important thing to invent something is to provide the use for others. If it is pointless then why would you invent it. If you invent something good then its not about making the money for you it should be about helping others.

    ReplyDelete
  47. 1.MY first choice would be the smart aid for we can use it to help injured or hurt people in stores my two runner ups are the escape rings for they help netting fish that we want rather than having a bunch of small fish ejected out by leaving the big fish for markets.
2.they won awards based on their projects ideas and how they help in every day lives. We are researching them so we can base new projects and ideas based on there projects.
3.I think the U.S. Might be behind japan and india.
4.If we spent the time and money to create such a facinating invention i expect we use it in all the store or when we fish.

    ReplyDelete
  48. 1.First-I love the Revival vest idea. It could safe a lot of lives in the future.
Second-I really think the Smart Aid is a fantastic idea that would boost the time of first responders that could save hundreds of lives.
Third-The Safety Net is one of the best ideas that I have ever seen. I believe in conservation just as much as I believe in hunting and this will help save species of fish for later generations.

2.It is to help kinds get there inventions out there and expand technology.

3.I believe the U.S. entries are about even with the rest of the worlds and al but my number 2 were U.S. ideas.

4.To me the most important aspect of these projects are helping other people.

    ReplyDelete
  49. 1. First place go's to the BETH, and the two runner ups are The O2 PURSUIT and Rewired.

    2. The James Dyson awards is a program to help people get their inventions out to the world. We can make most of these inventions.

    3. U.S. is probably behind others in the world like japan.

    4. The most important part of inventing to me is to help the world progress and further develop our technological advances toward the future.

  51. 1:
    1. O2 pursuit
    2. Hop! the following suitcase
    3. Reach and Match

    2. The James Dyson awards are for young inventors that want to test their skills against other young inventors. Why are not researching this specifically but we are researching similar things.

    3. They were on the same level.

    4. I think new technology should be new ways of doing everyday things and making them more convenient but not so much that we all get fat. I think if we go to far that we will turn out like Walle or 2001: A Space Odyssey.

    1. 2001 was a bit of an exaggeration but i think we have to be careful when it comes to technology. i think little things like moving suitcases are ok but the sixth sense thing is a little far in my opinion.

  52. 1. After looking at the finalists, I believe the Safe Agua project is my personal favorite. It could do much to benefit areas in India or Africa where running water is not present for people to take showers or wash their own hands. As a runner up, I chose the BETH project. The project benefits people who haven't got pert of their leg and need a prosthetic. It provides a painless prosthetic that morphs to fit the shape of the appendage. Very admirable cause, if you ask me.

    2. The James Dyson awards are a program that donates money to projects that "That design something to solve a problem". The problems have to be something that aren't trivial, they must be changing the way of life of a group of people.

    3. They are mainly to benefit the third world countries, and they were the two that I picked.

    4. Developing a technology can be a taxing process, it's for the benefit of many, then it's worth it. The whole point of the awards program is to make a difference to the people who need it the most.

  53. 1. The winner for me would be the O2 pursuit. The runners-up would be the ReWired and Hop! projects.

    2. The James Dyson Awards are awarded to inventors who create the most creative and useful item for everyday life. The environment these awards give is that an inventor can be recognized for their invention.

    3. A US entry was what I picked for my winner. Though there were many incredible entries from around the world.

    4. The most important part of developing new technology is the ideal of possibility that invention imposes. These inventions seem to have a large amount of cult potential. They seem like they can make a large amount of money. They main aspect I was looking at is movement to a new idea from an old. Like Oxygen fuel from Petroleum.

  54. 1. I think that the winner is the person that made the reach and match because it helps blind children. The two runners-up are the person that made the Smart aid because it helps people who are hurt in crashes and the GiraDora: Safe Agua because it helps save water and time no cleaning clothes.

    2. The James Dyson Awards are given to people who design things that solve problems. We are researching this because as GenYES students, we solve teachers problems.

    3. Some of the German and French projects were amazing like my choice, the smart aid. The Hop suitcase was made by a spanish person and I thought it was a cool device.

    4. To me, the most important aspect of creating new technology is making some thing that helps people and fixes problems.

  55. 1. The winner in my book is BETH Project they have a blatter with jammable material and is easily shaped and fitted to a ampute persons arm or leg and the two runners up is the Bicyclean and the OttoClave

    2. It helps people all over the world to thing differently and invent something that can solve a problem we are researching these to better furthur our minds

    3. the rest of the world looks a lot better in technology than us I would honestly want to live in Japan for there internet lol

    4. Making a new invention and helping people all over the world with that invention and overall changing the world we know today

  56. 1. I like the reach & match for my winner and my 2 runner ups would be Fil'o _ Parenting Aid for Deaf Parents and Hearing Children and the revival vest.

    2. The James Dyson Award is an international student design award running in 18 countries. It’s run by the James Dyson Foundation, James Dyson’s charitable trust, as part of its mission to encourage the next generation of design engineers to be creative, challenge and invent. 3. I am lost about this one sorry.
