  1. I've noticed that symbaloo isn't that popular because whenever I tried to find information on it I couldn't.

  2. Really? I am a little baffled that several of you guys dislike this so much. I've showed it to about a dozen teachers and they think it's really cool.

I'm confused! It will be interesting to see how many of you come up with something better!

  3. I think it is a very good resources guide and has a lot of potential for teacher use distributing materials. If you look to it as a generic bookmark site rather than a place to tag articles and favorites it becomes more viable. There are some irritating aspects of Symbaloo that I dislike such as the inability to take other people's tiles and the difficulty in finding tile to use. I think that as long as some of the interface issues were worked out it would be a very valuable tool.

  4. I think Symbaloo is not that bad. It has its's pro's and con's. But my honest opinion I don't like it because its a hassle to go through and find the correct tile. Not only that there is a limit on tiles you can have. Where as if you bookmark them there is no limit and its quicker.

  5. The appeal that Symbaloo has is in making a lot of information quickly accessible. The problem with it is that it takes forever to get that information into Symbaloo and organized in such a way as to be actually useful. Ultimately, the promise of making a "web of links" for research or whatever doesn't follow through because all of the tools that we actually use for browsing the web are completely separate from Symbaloo and it's faster to work directly from web search than Symbaloo.

What teachers need is a simple way to create and share a set of links, but have ways to customize that information beyond just "tiles" with no context whatsoever. Symbaloo makes it difficult to do something simple, and really doesn't let the user go past that extreme level of simplicity.

  6. I personally like the symbaloo, I was saying that it's not as big as it should be because it has so many different ways to connect kids with school in a different unique way. My teacher I keep in touch with has recently started experimenting with it because it helps her stay more organized.

  7. Symbaloo is ok. Right now hardly any of my teachers implement technology into their lesson plan, so it was difficult for me to make to think websites to include in my webmixes for certain classes. The class I feel would get the most use out of Symbaloo is definitely GenYes. I feel like Symbaloo is a good way to manage and share web links with numerous people. I could see Ms. K using her Symbaloo page to link us to resources we might need for a project, or links that have to do with our lesson plan on a given day. The only thing I don't really like about Symbaloo is that I don't feel like it does anything that we couldn't have done before. I feel like all of the uses for Symbaloo could be done already by the blog or with our PVlearners.

  9. I like symbaloo, but it seems impractical for our purposes in education. Great idea though, I'm gonna look into cloud computing with windows 7 because it actually does seem useful.

  10. I think that Symbaloo could possibly be useful, if teachers used laptops more often in the first place. But when used, Symbaloo could be helpful for some sites that take multiple links to get to. Most kids, however, only visit a few specific sites, and would rather just type them in to the address bar. So I think that it could be useful, but I think that for the most part, not many people would use it.

  12. I really hate symbaloo. It takes way too much time to create a book mark when i could much more easily paste the link into a google doc, and email, or a shortlink on a piece of paper.

  13. It isn't difficult but it takes more time then I would like it to. It would be more practical for a teacher to use for an assignment and it would be best fit as a home page. Otherwise cloud computing is awesome if there is a specific practice.

  15. I think symbaloo is cool. But I think you can just sync up your bookmarks with google chrome. Which is way easier. But for people who dont use google or chrome I think it is great. It is cool to have a place with all your book marks. I think it is really easy to search for what you are looking for on google, rather than logging in to symbaloo. I also wish you could edit other people's to make it your own.

  16. Symbaloo is cool and ideal for teachers to use in classrooms but not as much for students that want to use a website for bookmarks. It is very useful for information on everything. Its great that it uses the internet and all of the available links to other search engines like "Bing, ASK, Yahoo, And so much more.."
