“Criticism is something you can easily avoid by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” ~Aristotle
This week you will be presenting your websites. Many people are afraid to get up in front of others mostly in fear of being judged, the risk of failure or being hit with an onslaught of criticism.
Let's break it all down. You took a risk taking this class. You knew it was a tech class and you heard it was much more. Leadership. Service. Business. Discovering new tech. Problem solving. Career building. Risk. Some kids bailed out. You are the adventurous type. Welcome to GenYES.
As your teacher, I am about to evaluate, applaud and criticize your presentations this week. Let's get ready for this:
Part 2 - Read the whole article:
2. What do you do successfully? What things from this list do you have in common with successful people? What do you think you might need to work on? What does any of this have to do with a technology class?!
Two questions. That's it. Do a great job. Remember 100 - 200 well written words, grammar and spelling count!

As your teacher, I am about to evaluate, applaud and criticize your presentations this week. Let's get ready for this:
1. Think about all the points in the article.
Of the 25: choose, copy and paste one of them in your comments and then totally elaborate on the point. How does criticism make you better, how do you let it affect you, how it may relate to you being successful overall?
Of the 25: choose, copy and paste one of them in your comments and then totally elaborate on the point. How does criticism make you better, how do you let it affect you, how it may relate to you being successful overall?
Part 2 - Read the whole article:
Two questions. That's it. Do a great job. Remember 100 - 200 well written words, grammar and spelling count!
22. When someone criticizes you, it shines a light on your own insecurities. If you secretly agree that you’re lazy, you should get to the root of that. Why do you believe that, and what can you do about it?
ReplyDelete1) 1) You're supposed to listen to criticism and let it help you. Taking this feedback the wrong way can lead to more negative thoughts from yourself to yourself. Use criticism as instructions or directions. "You could've used more of this color and your painting would've been more expressive." Some people would do the opposite just to shove it in your face. Those people probably won't get the results they want. But other people would take this feedback as advice and get the results they would like, if not, better. Always let criticism be positive for you. This kind of feedback and almost any kind of feedback can go from negative to positive in an instant. It all depends on your mindset and whether or not you're ready to accept these constructive words of advice.
2) Something i do everyday that successful people do is laugh. Laughing is something i love to do and something i try to encourage others to do. i'll either joke around and make them laugh or make them laugh by laughing.
(2.) Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize.
ReplyDelete1. Taking criticism in a positive was will leave you with a positive outlook. Using your mistakes to correct and make you better at whatever you're doing.
2. I think that I am good at Empathizing with people, I don't like watching people getting embarrassed or humiliated makes me feel like I am part of the problem. However I think I need to work on listening, I often have to go back to instructions or ask my teacher what to do again because I don't listen and "zone-out." I think having these attributes are very important in a tech class like this, because you need all the traits a leader does. Motivation, Initiative, Dedication, Effort and so on.
1.) "2. Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize" I belive this is a great way to look at it because you will never improve if you don't listen to criticism. Criticism is a great way to help you improve because you can learn how to please people and make whatever you are doing the best you can make it. I am always open to criticism and like to hear when people want to tell me how to improve something, I never take anything the wrong way and I change what I feel should be changed to satisfy. This is important for me because I am able to change something if someone wants it, so everyone can be happy with something.
ReplyDelete2.) I am a really good listener and learner, and I soak in information when I listen to people talk. I don't talk, however, i'm more adept at listening to other people. Asking questions and adventuring out of my comfort zone are hard for me as a person, and that might make it harder for me to get a job.
These have to do with technology because we need to learn from our mistakes and go on to greater things. All of the skills listed are things that successful people have, and we will need them to make ourselves successful. Without these, a career in technology, or any career, will be very hard to get.
1: "Criticism opens you up to new perspectives and ideas that you may not have considered. Whenever someone challenges you, they help expand your thinking." I totally agree with this statement. I ask for criticism on a lot of personal projects to get another person's point of view. It pretty much always helps. The only time it doesn't help is when they are a super negative person. Because then you're just asking for an argument.
ReplyDelete2: Two of the things I do well that are on the list are: I never stop laughing and adventuring. Ask anyone I hang out with and they'll tell you I tell the most jokes and simultaneously the lamest jokes. I also go out of my comfort zone to learn new things. Like learning to play guitar when I had no hand-eye coordination.
1.) "15. Certain pieces of criticism teach you not to sweat the small stuff."
ReplyDeleteI feel like this one sticks out to me in some ways because I remember when first making up the websites 2 years ago and presented it for the first time, I got so worried upon receiving it because I just thought that I failed so badly at it, despite the fact that it was only small things that needed changing. I feel like criticism would probably make me better in that if it’s something that is easy to change I can basically reflect on it and learn how to do it better for the next time. I feel like I let criticism affect me when it is more on the positive side, and if it’s from someone I respect and such.
2.) I feel like there are so many things on that list that I need to get better at in general. Some of the main things I can think of are probably asking/questioning, because I don’t typically ask for help in some things. I feel like I also need to get better at accepting failure, since I feel I typically do things with pure success in mind and so might not deal well with failure sometimes. This has a lot to do with the class because we need to expect things like failure and all that because of unexpected variables that may occur, and from learning how to change those situations we would be able to improve how we handle any similar ones in the future, and thereby getting more experience with technology.
1) "16. The more time you spend dwelling about what someone said, the less time you have to do something with it." I feel that this one is important because I can relate to it on a huge level. When someone criticizes me or I criticize someone else, I spend hours dwelling on the event. I need to work on this so that I am more efficient with my time. In a technology class like GenYES, it is important to keep these things in mind because this advice can be applied to anything.
ReplyDelete2) I think that I am successful in learning. Although I have not always done my best academically, I have always had the desire to learn about new things around me. I need to work on my questioning, usually in the classroom I am too shy to ask any questions about what we are learning about.
1. "Learning from criticism allows you to improve: Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize." If you get criticized all the time, it teaches you to deal with different kinds of criticisms and how to respond to them. If people criticize you enough, you can come up with more comebacks every time for each person.
ReplyDelete2. One of the things that apply to me on that site is Laughing. I love to laugh and make other people laugh. I gives me a good feeling about myself. I might have to work on my listening skills because I have a disability that forces me to not pay attention as much as I should. It can help me in tech classes because I need to listen to learn to do things technology wise.
1. The phrase I chose is “Criticism opens you up to new perspectives...” which I thought really embodied what criticism is supposed to do. It is supposed to allow someone to view what they did from another perspective and understand it from there. It allows you to see all sides of it without having to change your own mindset. This criticism allows you to see a different frame of mind and make adjustments to it, making you better overall. The way I reap the benefits of criticism is by listening and always remembering that they are saying what they say to help me, not break me. By doing this, it allows you to be successful now and in the future so you don’t waste time making the same mistake over and over.
ReplyDelete2. Concerning my own personal success, I have been able to do advanced courses in high school, whether it has been AP or Honors. I have also been invited to the National Honors Society, a very prestigious society. I have done this by following most of the different actions listed on the article provided. I definitely know I need to work on my adventuring and taking risks as right now, I don’t do a whole lot of that. While to the normal person, this article may seem irrelevant in a technology class, it is these traits that helped people like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs create their massive technological empires. These traits become important in this class as doing things differently and being nice to others can open doors for you now and in the future. Also, taking risks and experimenting can lead people to amazing things in technology and anywhere else.
1."Criticism opens you up to new perspectives and ideas that you may not have considered. Whenever someone challenges you, they help expand your thinking."Lets say you have a hard time in class and its the work you are doing in class say biology with a four hundred word assignment about pill bug and you didn't know anything about pill bugs but you go to library and find many books on pill bugs so you reed all of the books and then you wright four hundred word assignment about pill bug then when you are done you see that you made a four hundred word assignment about pill bugs.
ReplyDelete2.One of the things that apply to me is learning and successful people to. Most of the time i want to learner every thing in the world and something about me questions like who am i, why am here, what do i like but i got to with life and see what happens to me.I need to work on is laughing because i don't like to laughing a lot i feel wired do it and that's all.Why does any of this have to do with a technology class well you have to have fun times and the hard working times but they equal together show what we can do with all of this is to have our times with technology the good and the bad.
1. “The more time you spend dwelling about what someone said, the less time you have to do something with it.” What this means is that a lot of people when they hear criticism from someone else they keep thinking of it and what they said instead of fixing and correcting their mistake. Criticism makes us better because it allows to fix something and make it better than it was before. How it affects me is I do think about the criticism I get, but before I let it get to me I figure out what I messed up on and I use it to fix what I did. Criticism does relate to me being successful because without it you can't improve yourself or apply it to make yourself better.
ReplyDelete2. I think I do good with listening to other people because I listen to almost everything other people say to me. I have quite a but in common like listening, learning, thanking, and remembering. Things I could work on would be asking more question, making people laugh, and most important is probably to take more risks. This all does involves our technology class because we all have to be open to criticism and how we can make ourselves better. Technology has evolved because people gave criticism and with the criticism they made their technology better.
1.) (1)"Looking for seeds of truth in criticism encourages humility. It’s not easy to take an honest look at yourself and your weaknesses, but you can only grow if you’re willing to try." This quote really makes a lot of sense because usually people will see criticism as "hating" or "judging" but in contrast this quote is saying, have you really took the time and focused on your weaknesses that this person has brought to light, or did you just try and avoid it by saying "oh they are just hating", because if you actually take the time and look upon your flaws you can not only strengthen yourself but increase your humility.Honestly, I take criticism as a drive to push harder because I believe " If everyone thinks you cant, you have to be the only one who BELIEVES you can". So it affects me positively in that sense. But overall, you will in turn gain humility, and a sense of self confidence or assurance which will only make you better in the long run.
ReplyDelete2.) Honestly, I feel like Im strong in all of those places, so if i'd use any one as an example it would probably be myself. Some of the many things I have in common with successful people is thanking, giving, empathetic, and failing .And i say failing because im ok with failing because i will be immediately ready for improvements on my weak areas, and im sure criticism will help me see that.Something i would probably need to work on is asking and questioning, that reason being because if i get corrected on something or need help Im sort of the self discovery type so i could improve on that because there could be something i skipped over or something like that.

ReplyDelete1. Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize. Sometimes I enjoy being criticized, because usually when I receive criticism I like to take it and look at what I can do to not be criticized. I am extremely competitive and if someone criticizes me I like to think of it as if they are challenging me which makes me want to improve. So yes, I do learn from criticism in a way.
ReplyDelete2.The only thing that I would say I do successfully is be a good businessman. One of the things that I like to do is buy and sell items mostly electronics. What I do is bargain, like I mean really bargain, for example a smart phone that I was buying on craigslist a while ago was listed at 480 I slowly got the price down to about 280. I am also a great salesman I can sell something high than its value. A few things that I have in common with successful people is that I enjoy risking, adventuring, prioritizing, and love to learn new things all the time. I really have to work on enjoying other things, i am just to serious about what do. i would say that this has to do with this class because from what i noticed in this class before you have to do almost everything that is on that list and work hard in ts class to succeed
1. “Criticism opens you up to new perspectives.” I have never been able to receive feedback in a constructive manner. I was talking about this blog post with my mother. She told me that this had been part of my personality even when I was a child. If I was coloring and my grandmother or mother suggested that I try another color, I would respond immediately with a polite “No.” I had a picture in my head and I was going to color it that way. It was never a matter of pride. I didn’t consciously think that my picture was going to be better, I just wanted to do it my way. I can be a very stubborn person at times. I like to think that I have matured since then and am better able to hear feedback now. I can still be stubborn but I now understand that different perspectives can provide information on how to better myself. I cannot see things in the same way that others can. They have different ideas and improvements that I may not see or have. I am now able to take people’s ideas into consideration instead of immediately shutting down. I have learned that constructive criticism can be extremely useful in improving all sorts of things: writing, designs, and any other volume of work. I sometimes still have trouble distinguishing constructive criticism from general criticism but I am improving. I have found that my work is always bettered by the ideas of others. Even if the final product does not end up including the ideas that came as criticism, they may have opened up my mind and inspired me to try something different, making the product all the better! I have learned to appreciate the thoughts and help of others. It has made my work better, as well as made me a better person.
ReplyDelete2. I tend to be successful in my school work and any projects that I have a true passion for. Some traits that I share with the successful people on this list are: laughing, questioning, loving, and remembering. I am always willing to laugh at myself and my mistakes. I understand that nobody is perfect and I embrace my imperfections. I am constantly wondering what I can do to improve something or what effects things will have. This may be why I enjoy chemistry so much, I am always curious about what I can do with what I am given. I like to think that I am a loving person and even when I don’t like something about someone, I can still love and respect them as a person. I tend to remember my mistakes and my successes meaning that I can learn from, or repeat them, in the future. Some of the traits on this list that I definitely need to work on are: asking, adventuring, and failing. While I am always “questioning,” that is an internal process. “Asking” is an external process. I am a shy person and often prefer to remain within my own mind and listen to others when they do share, rather than go up to someone and asking them to share their thoughts with me. Going along with being shy, I am a very cautious person. I do not relish in leaving my comfort zone. I would rather not do something that I may enjoy simply because I may fail or may have to do something that is uncomfortable for me. That falls in line with my fear of failing. While I am able to laugh at my imperfections, my mistakes and failures are a different matter. My fear of messing up keeps me from trying a lot of things. These traits of both success and ways to interpret criticism are key in a this class because technology is largely a cooperative field. In order to be successful, you have to be able to work with others and take their criticism in order to better yourself.

ReplyDelete1. In some cases, criticism teaches you how to interact with a person, if they’re negative or hostile, for example. Knowing this can save you a lot of time and stress in the future. This is just a basic understanding of listening to people in a conversation, as well as every day life. You will encounter people that are just a bad influence that you have to stay clear of.
ReplyDelete2. Interpreting someone else’s feedback is an opportunity for rational thinking—sometimes, despite a negative tone, criticism is incredibly useful. Criticism is something you cant live without, its to improve on yourself an the others around you to create a better environment. You can't improve on yourself without knowing what you could approve upon. In the world of tech you can always improve an idea or an invention constantly, you just need a point ion the right detection.
1. “Criticism gives you the chance to foster problem solving skills.” Even though I may not like receiving criticism, this quote is very true for me. When I think something is the best it can be, when somebody else may see a problem, then having them tell me so would definitely help me learn how to solve whatever problems they may see. I normally have trouble taking criticism because I like to be independent and do what I believe is right. Overall, criticism does help me become more successful because there will always be areas in what I do that someone else can help me make better if I would just listen.
ReplyDelete2. I seem to be successful in learning. I can be told something and it will stick with me, whether it is some formula in math or a piece of advice. Once part of success that I know I need to work on is risking. I am usually held back by my fear of doing something wrong. I try too hard to make sure I do everything how it should be done, and no more. All of this has to do with GenYES because this class is preparing us for future success in our careers.
24. When someone else appraises you harshly, you have an opportunity to monitor your internal self-talk.
ReplyDelete1. Most of us don't think about this too much, but when we do something that causes us to get criticized we yell at ourselves internally saying, "Why was I being so dumb," or, "How did I miss that!" You usually are degrading yourself and not thinking of it positively as something you need to work on. Criticism should always make you better because every time we are criticized we learn one of our own flaws or problems we have when doing something. If you can't learn from having people notice the flaw and throwing words at you to tell you about it then there is no surviving for you in this world. You may feel embarrassed after you are criticized in front of a group of people, but if you fix it next time those people will look at you differently. How much you take from the criticism you receive determines how successful you may become.
2. I notice that I like to look at the bright side of everything and laugh at the bad things, but also question why should I not be able to do it. I'm certain there is more than two of these things I have in common with successful people and I'm sure that's the same for everyone else in GenYES as well. Though I have many I need to work on like asking because even though I listen to someone I rarely ask questions and am slightly afraid to. Also I need to work on leveling with others since many a time I will just go along with what someone else is saying even if I may not agree and that is something I would want to change. In this class learning how we can be successful and being able to fully comprehend criticism are key to doing well in this class since we tend to criticized everyone lots and want to make them successful.
1. You have the chance to practice forgiveness. I had problems forgiving my friends for doing things to me and so after my parents told me that it was me and not my friends and after a while i was able to forgive people.
ReplyDelete2. Laughing because it can make anything fun. Failing, because you can’t learn anything without failing. Because you want to know how to make us more successful.

ReplyDelete1. "16. The more time you spend dwelling about what someone said, the less time you have to do something with it". This is probably the best statement i have read, heard, or thought all week. One someone criticizes you, there is no point in dwelling on it. You need to move on, and if the criticism has some truth do it, maybe you can use it to better yourself. Think about how you can change for the better.
ReplyDelete2.
1. 25.Receiving feedback well reminds you it’s okay to have flaws—imperfection is part of being human. If you can admit weakness and work on them without getting down on yourself, you’ll experience far more happiness, peace, enjoyment, and success.
ReplyDeleteWe are all perfectly imperfect, and other people may notice that from time to time. We may even notice in it each other.
Somehow accepting that is a huge weight off my mind.
the criticize of others help you improve on what have made and what you can fix.
2.Laughing it off is what I do successfully.Learning is what I have in common with successful people.I need to work on leveling. It as to do with technology because businesses that sell, fix, and etc, don't become successful just by not learning from their mistake.
1) 3 ) "Criticism opens you up to new perspectives" Thats true if someone criticize you then they are willing to help you; they are not degrading you, so always except others opinion. I know sometimes when someone criticize me i dont always like that because my ego always pops up in my mind.
ReplyDelete2) Listening is what i do successfully. Failing is what i have in common with other peoples. Questioning is what i need to improve because I never ask many questions, i dont know why? Questioning is what we need in technology class, because you need to ask question about what you dont know.
ReplyDelete1) The one I hated the most was the Yale University one, because the other bad websites were made by beginners and amateurs, but Yale's website was made by professionals specializing in art and design. Any art university having a bad website is humiliating, let alone Yale.

3) A good website needs to be pleasing to the eye, invoke the intended emotions from the viewers, and guild the viewers seamlessly through to where they want to go. Many websites either have too much one one page, or too little, and add to it by picking colors that clash with each other.
Learning from criticism allows you to improve.
ReplyDeleteThis one I feel is the most important. Criticism is important because it helps you. It is not about what the other person thinks but about how you can help yourself with their thoughts. Without someone to tell you how you how you can improve and what you are doing wrong you would make the same mistakes over and over. I am successful when it comes to thinking, planning, problem solving, and other obvious things that relate to what I like to do. What I have in common with successful people is I am not afraid to ask for help and I am not one that gives in easily. I am also careful. I need work on the fact that I do not let go of things easily. If there is something that happens and has to do with me it will bother me until it is resolved, whether it needs to be or not. This applies to tech class because if I don't get things right or fail to accomplish something it will rip me in to pieces even if there is nothing I can do about it. I often worry too much about opinions about me because sometimes it feels like they won't change, even if I have.
Number your responses please. It's hard to discern which questions you are answering. Thanks! Ms K :)
Delete1.)2. Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the most important thing about Criticism because it helps you improve in your job or maybe academics and it will make more successful in general
2.)The thing I'm most Successful at is probably being happy and getting As and Bs.The things I share with Successful people is forgiveness I don't really hold grudges I get over it pretty quickly, also remebering because I can usually remember what my experiences have been with other people.
1. Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize.
ReplyDeleteThroughout the 25 I like this one the most and I think it mean the most. Learning from your own and others mistakes most certainly improves your ethic effectively.
2. I definitely think I most successfully laugh, I completely agree with the statement. I can be serious in a lot of situations but I love humor where ever I am. I think I have a lot in common with H.G. Wells, he laughs in the funny moments but knows how to get serious. I also think I have a lot in common with remembering, If I take a picture or write any word on a piece of paper or in a document I can usually instantly remember why I put it there, and the memories behind it. Something I need to work on I think is giving, I don't give much. I think this has to do with a technology class because being young you have to grow up doing speeches with technology if you want to represent your company.

ReplyDelete2. The thing that makes you criticism is beaning happy for getting All most complete getting A's and B's and I share this because during high school in freshman high I got all A's and B's and I was happy to going into my sophomore year. I usually am always happy but only when people make me laugh.
1. 2. Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize.
ReplyDeleteCriticism is vital to getting better in any task or job in the world, knowing what you did wrong and what people didn't like about it will allow you to fix it, or do it better in the future. If we didn't know what we did wrong how criticism, how would we ever get better?
2. I always try to laugh and stay energetic and positive, even in tense and serious situations. I'm a good listener in any situation, whether it be in class or with my friends, I always have an open ear. I need to work on risking more, as I go for the safe option a majority of the time, though I don't see this as too little of a trait, in ways it can also be harmful.
11. Criticism presents an opportunity to choose peace over conflict. When criticized. our instinct may be to fight, creating unnecessary drama. The people around us generally want to help us, not judge us.
ReplyDelete1.Critism makes you better by getting advice from the people and you can include the community into what you are doing
2.thing I do successfuly pay video games, things I have in common with successful people is that we both have a brain, thing i might to work on is school, yes playing video games.
1. "When I’m exhausted, you can be sure I’ve bent over backward trying to win everyone’s approval. I’ve obsessed over what people think of me, I’ve assigned speculative and usually inaccurate meanings to feedback I’ve received, and I’ve lost myself in negative thoughts about criticism and its merit. "
ReplyDelete2. As an artist i do get criticized a lot sometime i put my effort in it and ill have like 4 people absolutely just take a dump on my happiness, but the main way how i take the criticism is that i learn from it and i adapt to it but if someone is just a plan dick then i think about the positive comments
1. Certain pieces of criticism teach you not to sweat the small stuff. This is especially true when it comes to the internet and today. Nowadays people spend so much time just getting offended by everything and calling legitimate criticism anything from racist to misogynistic for absolutely no reason. Being able to take criticism without overreacting is a key skill to improving in whatever field you wish to improve in.
ReplyDelete2. I can successfully manage various clients in my job and I will get the job done no matter what. I can take criticism and build on it and I attempt to maintain as positive an outlook as I can. I need to work on empathizing with the people I work with. This all applies to a technology class because in order to be successful you need to be ambitious in your ideas and have a hardworking, dedicated mindset to achieve your ambitious goals.

1. 5. You have the chance to practice forgiveness. I have issues forgiving the guilty. With friends, sure it's easy to forgive them. But people who do or say something harsh that I have no clue who they are is what I have problems with. It would be a good way to practice forgiving people and being a kinder person.
ReplyDelete2. Laughing and Loving may be my highest points. I love my family, my friends, and my precious, darling Girlfriend. And I usually laugh when they laugh, it's a natural reaction. Other points i'm either ok at or need work in. Mostly Risking and Adventuring. Not big on those two and could improve. Sometimes I may be risking without ever realizing it.
1. "Criticism opens you up to new perspectives." When we're presented with new and different ideals, it widens our options for improvement. No two people think identically. Yeah, they can have similar outlooks, but somewhere along the road there will be a conflict of opinion.
ReplyDelete2. One of my good points is my ability to listen and adapt to situations. I as an individual do not favor speaking to large crowds or even more than 10 people at once. I am a much better accomplice to sit, watch and listen to the reactions of people instead of standing up in front of a room and teaching. I honestly do think listening is one of the greatest assets you can have. People who do not understand the importance of listening are probably loud, outspoken and sometimes rude. If you don't understand the problem with yourself told by another person, you cannot grow.
1. "Interpreting someone else’s feedback is an opportunity for rational thinking—sometimes, despite a negative tone, criticism is incredibly useful." You do not judge someones work to be mean but only to give them your thoughts on how to make their work better. It also teaches you to think at a deeper level to give your opinion. Over all criticism helps everyone become deeper level thinkers and it helps improve others work.
ReplyDelete2. One thing I do successfully is listen. I am not a big talker but I always listen to what others have to say and I always think about how their ideas could help me in the long run. In my opinion I need to work on my questioning skills because sometimes I can be too nervous to ask anything at all. This helps here in a technology class because everything we do can be criticized and we need to learn how to listen to our critics and maybe even be a critic.
1. Criticism gives you the chance to foster problem solving skills, which isn’t always easy when you’re feeling sensitive, self-critical, or annoyed with your critic.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this because if there is something that is that important to you that you are feeling that emotional, then it would be a good thing to try and fix your problems. A lot of the time, the problem may be hard to deal with which in turn, will improve your problem solving skills. When I get criticized, I do sometimes get down but then I usually will want to fix my problem. Or if I truly believe that what i'm doing is the right thing, then I will try to explain to others why I think I may be right but I always try to come to an understanding. So overall, criticism does help me more than it hurts me in the long run and it is probably the same for everyone else so I think it is important that people criticize others to an extent.
2. Out of the list, the main things I do best are listening, giving, thanking, loving, and forgiving. I do these things very well just as a person in this world. I am a very nice person and I do try to help others and to learn things myself. The things I could use some work on would be questioning, prioritizing, and risking. I think that i'm just to afraid at what might happen that I wont do or try a lot of things. Of course all of this has to do with technology class because all of these are just life skills that everybody possesses, whether they are good at them or not. Everything in life involves these skills and with the upcoming business, these skills will be very helpful.

1. "Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Someone else's opinion is a very important thing for someone, because criticism opens you up to new perspectives that you could not see for yourself. For example, you might not notice something hiding in plain sight that is very blatant to other. This happened to me when I was creating my website, and figured out that my text problem was because I forgot to delete a sidebar. You cannot take this criticism as an insult, otherwise you will not improve upon your mistakes.
ReplyDelete2. One thing I do often is ask questions. I not only want to know how an operation is executed, but I want to know what I can do to further increase success. I like to find the simple answers, as it makes getting, well simple.
1. "Interpreting someone else’s feedback is an opportunity for rational thinking—sometimes, despite a negative tone, criticism is incredibly useful." Criticism will change me for how I speak and what I can improve on. I do not let it affect me in any certain way, I make sure to do, whatever it is, twice as better than before using what was said. Criticism can help me in my career by making me feel more confident and fix what needs to be fixed.
ReplyDelete2. As someone that builds gaming computers, I feel successful enough to build computers that anybody would like to build. I believe that I know how to be more loving towards anyone for how much I'm willing to motivate them for anything they would like to accomplish. I am not perfect of coarse and in that case, I need to work on helping more people with a bigger motivation on myself to help them even more. I believe this has to deal with a tech class for everyone that is presenting, Also making sure to give them a lot of motivation and courage to present in front of a audience.
1.) "Fostering the ability to let go of your feelings and thoughts about being critiqued can help you let go in other areas of your life."
ReplyDeleteThis quote basically, in my understanding, means that criticism can help understand other problems in life. Problems can always be solved one way or another, being open-minded can help find other or more ways to understand and solve them.
2.) Successfully I can forgive others, listen to people, learn new things, and risk. I can be fairly okay in the others listed, but for the most part I am willing to the risk and get out of my comfort zone. I have taken many college classes on communication and it has been very helpful, I love my college classes, and it's because of those classes that I love learning and listening to others. I feel that I need to be more successful at asking questions, prioritizing and empathizing, I can sympathize it not empathize. These are not really relative to this class with tech, but these traits helped many people accomplish more in life than what they originally thought.
1. “2. Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every criticism gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize.” I mean the more people criticise you the more you know the mistakes you are making and later on life you can easily fix them. So you could actually make this a benifit by just learning from the criticism people give you. So yeah its pretty much a life hack tool.
ReplyDelete2. I can relate to the remembering part on that article because I have a decent good memory. I can sometimes remember things that i’ve done when I was a young lad. My parents say I do have a good memory but I sometimes tell them in a different way. Like sometimes I say sentences backwards on accident and mess up what im trying to say but I really do have a decent great memory.
2. Learning from criticism allows you to improve. Almost every critique gives you a tool to more effectively create the tomorrow you visualize.
ReplyDelete1.) From personal experience, i have learned that when people criticize you, they usually point out what you did wrong, they point out your mistakes so you can avoid them in the future.
2.) 1. …Laughing
There are times to be serious--many times, in fact. But successful people understand there is humor to be found in nearly any situation. As H.G. Wells put it, “The crisis of today is the joke of tomorrow.”
A thing i have in common with successful people, is laughter, i try and make people laugh, and smile, naturally, making other people happy makes me happy.I need some work in listening, sometimes i hear people, but i dont hear them, I get engrossed in something else.
1) "You have the chance to practice forgiveness" even though criticism is hard you still need to forgive people. you cant stay mad at them forever. it frees you up emotionally and puts you at peace. when I get criticized (the bad why ) I end up getting really sad. then I learn from being criticized and try to do better.
ReplyDelete2) the things I do successfully are Laughing, Learning, Listening, Asking (sometimes), Giving, Thanking, Failing (something i'm really good at), I love Traveling, i'm very loving, forgiving, I really need to work on remembering things and accomplishing things and I really should ask more questions. this might have to do with the tech class because we have to get ready for the future and we really need to learn how to be successful in life.
1. “Learning from criticism allows you to improve.” Criticism makes you better by giving you information from a view point that you didn’t have before, and lets you know what you should change in order to make whatever you’re doing better. Criticism can make you sad if you believe what you have done is perfect, but it may make whatever you’re doing much more successful.
ReplyDelete2. I learn a lot of new things all the time, thank everyone if they help me with something, and am fairly good at prioritizing. I probably need to work on taking risks, questioning, and listening better. This has a lot to do with our class since we do a lot of projects and present them.
1) "The more time you spend dwelling about what someone said, the less time you have to do something with it."
ReplyDeleteMany people make the mistake of letting criticism get to them, and let their fear and panic grow. If they had just sat down, figured out why someone would say that, and make an effort to change, it could benifit everyone and bring self-improvement.
2) I would like to say I can accomplish a lot in a short amount of time, but I have the terrible habit of being apathetic because of a subconscious belief that nothing I could do could change anything. This is something I am currently working through, but it has caused me a lot of B's and C's than I would care to admit, and adds to my procrastination. Working through these habits is key to not only this class, but anything, because success is good in every situation possibl
1.) 8. Receiving criticism that hits a sensitive spot helps you explore unresolved issues. Maybe you’re sensitive about your intelligence because you’re holding onto something someone said to you years ago, something you need to release.
ReplyDeleteThis piece of advice was helpful because it reminds me of a time I was at a friends house when I had said something that had upset him and when he told me this it brought back some memories. One of the memories was an old friend that had stopped talking to me because of something I said that was similar to what I said to my current friend. The next week I found my old friend and apologized, since then we've hung out almost every day
2.) The thing i'm most commonly successful in is testing. I've always found it interesting that I can retain information so well. Almost every test I take is 80% of higher. All i need to do is read about the subject and it will start coming easy to me
something i need to work on is following through with homework assignments and getting them turned in. I've always struggled with turning in homework even though I usualy finish it which hurts my grade. If I can work on this and fix it i can be very successful.

Self-Confidence: it helps bring your self-confidence up and it makes it so that when someone does criticize you are able to take it and not get upset.
ReplyDeleteI successfully am always self motivated and no matter what someone says I always get back up.
