15. Thankful

As I thought about this weeks homework, Thanksgiving and all,  I thought about how thankful I was for my classes this year.  Truly, you are a great bunch of kids and I love coming to 'work.'

So I put in the search box "Thankful and Technology"  just to see what came up.  A lot of these pictures came up (or variations of it).  ☛

Then that made me think of my holidays growing up and how different this looks for you guys who never knew life without the Internet, phones, devices, computers, gaming systems and such.

So do you feel cheated or blessed?  Do you feel thankful about all the cool tech out there that has enriched your life?   Do you feel there might be important things in life, that may be not things at all? Give this some real thought and share significant thoughts that reflect your life.   Please be specific.

This week,  reflect a little and enjoy a...

Happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Multiple times have i pondered what it would be like living in the 18-1900s and i really cannot fathom how i could function outside of technology.I am very thankful for the technology provided to me.Although on the other hand technology has had many negative points on all of us collectively. However i am happy that technology is here for us.The main thing that is important that is not a physical thing would be emotion, happiness and thankfulness are the two big ones here.Overall, technology is great and we should all be happy that it is here for us.

    1. Good thoughts. Elaborate. If you make a statement "I am thankful for technology... " What specifically? What are the negative points you mention? Emotion / Happiness what do you mean? "Overall technology is great.. " How? Why for you personally. Support your statements :)

    2. Also, clean up your grammar please. Capitalize the i and reread your post out loud to hear the flow of it and if it makes sense. Thanks!

    3. The good technology as in computers, video game consoles, ect. Bad as in new weapons and hacking tools. It helps us overall by making us more efficient, being able to do everyday tasks such as communication almost instantaneous.

With all the technology we had I feel blessed :3. I feel bless because i can discover soo much on technology, that i already didnt know of. If My life wasn't introduce into technology than I wouldnt be the person i am today truely. I am thankful for all the cool tech we have but i sometimes i believe those cool tech is just a waste of money. Okay computers, laptops, and phones are fine but the Iwatch or the Google glasses the money out of those could have bought soo much food and gived to the poor or even the money given to charities. I do believe there are more important things in live but to me I just want to stay on the internet and gain more knowledge lols. And What do I think of all this? Well I just haven't found the answer to that yet so I don't know what i think of all of this because my mind is set all over the place.

    2. Good thoughts but be more specific. "I can discover so much on technology..." How? Are you talking about the Internet? Reread your statements out loud to see if they make sense. Watch spelling like "gived" and lols. Remember, you are writing not texting. It is fine to be humorous but be professional in your writing. When you say " ... there are more important things in live (life is what you mean right?) ..." What are those things? Be more specific! Thanks :)

    3. By what I mean I can discover so much on technology is learn what certain technology items do and as well I'm talking about the internet because You can do soo much with it like programming a code and showing to others or other technology related things and when I come across that then I learn more and more about technology. I mean life not live, didn't check spelling before i posted that and there are more important things in life like spending time with friends or family, finding a job, reading a book, finding love, and soo much more i could say.

  3. It's hard for me to imagine a version of my life that was not completely ruled by technology. If it wasn't for technology, I wouldn't be in this fantastic program with all of my friends who can just hang out after school and pull up League of Legends and just chill for a few hours. If technology wasn't a part of my life, I may never have even heard of muay thai; it is because of Street Fighter (and one of my favorite characters, Sagat) that I ended up going to Grace Fighting Systems to learn Thai boxing. It is because of technology that I want to become a 3D Modelling designer for my own developer some day. Technology, video games in particular, have shaped my life; if I wasn't a part of gaming culture, I might spend my days reading books, watching TV, watching movies... I shudder to think of it, but follow celebrities. I am glad that technology exists in my life today, as it has molded both my interests and, to a certain extent, who I am.

  4. To be born during this generation is a blessing, yet a burden at the same time. Technology will continue to advance, and help our lives better than we know, and I am blessed for that, but it comes with the burden of distractions. I’d say most children are thankful for their beloved smartphones, because even the mentions of getting them taken away causes major havoc. With the use of applications, and Google, I am blessed to be able to entertain myself through Video streaming, and as well as advancing my knowledge through the Internet. I’m grateful that I will be able to be successful with a career in technology in the near future (And get paid big bucks $$$). If somehow all of our technology was destroyed, humans could not possible function correctly, as we rely on everything electronic as our Thankful Savior.

  5. I am thankful that I was born into the generation of technology. I have been using technology for as long as I can remember. I feel its a blessing because I am set up for a long career in the tech business, and I can be ahead of everybody else.
When I was little, I didn't have alot of the games and such other people had. I grew up with my Mom's Windows 95 PC, and I would spend most of my time on it trying just to figure it out. At a very early age, I was able to do things with that computer that the average user wouldn't know about. Just doing this, it gave me the mindset I needed to have to excel in technology. I can figure out problems on computers with things that Ive never seen before, because my mind applies itself to the computer.
I can use this mindset in the future. Technology IS the future, and with these skills I will be able to apply for jobs at tech companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc. My skills, and this generations access to technology at a very young age, can set up for the future in terms of technological innovation and consuming for computers.
I am glad that I am able to have this opportunity in a subject I am very passionate about. If I had grown up in the time Bill Gates had, I wouldn't have had access to such materials as computers, games, phones, etc at a young age. Most people decide what they want to do at a very young age. My dad is an architect, and loved playing with his Erector Sets as a kid. My mom loves to cook, and as a child she would mix random foods around the house and put them in the oven.

I am thankful to be born into the technological generation that I was. I can and will use my skills I have developed to teach others to be successful, and shape the future for technology.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. Technology is a large part of our everyday lives, and continues to grow every day. I'm thankful to be born into a generation that already had a start on technology. All that we are used to is brought with technology, and being without it would seem strange. If our current generation was born without technology, but slowly introduced to it, the memories before it took over would likely be cherished. Being free of the constant hold of technology is almost impossible, its too easy to access devices compared to what it would have been starting out. Our previous generation is used to life before it took over, and most likely wish that the current generation would use it less. The more widely that technology is used, the more it will take over. Its important to distinguish technology and our everyday lives, they can coexist but should never be counted as the same thing. Even for people who use it every day for jobs and entertainment get burnt out from it, and try to take a break. I'm thankful for technology, but at the same time am thankful that it is still possible to take a break from it when needed.

I'm thankful that it is still possible to find enjoyment in other things than technology. Cooking is a perfect example, and in many ways is similar to technology. Its something that everybody should learn in modern times, and can still be a source of enjoyment. Every day things are produced that could distract you from the good things brought from technology. Instead of getting drawn in and losing your life to the internet and games, find a way to make the life lessons from it fun. With technology being as advanced as it is, you don't have to lose your life to it in a bad way, instead produce the technology yourself. Learn how to build it, find out how it runs, and most of all, make it your own. Don't fall into the trap of mass media, use it to your advantage.

  7. I'm thankful that I live in a world full of technology. It's a blessing to live in a day and age where I can see the future of our Earth slowly develop before me with all of the new technology coming into the world. When I was born in 1997, my family only own an old Dell computer and a Super Nintendo. No big video games were around yet and the internet was only just becoming a big thing. Over the years when I grew up as a child I got to experience all the new technology rising up into the world.
With all the new technology rising up, it's making my dreams as an artist easier to make a reality. With scanners and high-res monitors to edit drawings and sketches with, it makes uploading onto the internet for everyone to see much easier. People all over the world are able to see all my artwork and either give it praise, or give it criticism. So I am thankful that technology has given me the joy of making my dream a reality.

  8. I am thankful for the life I had before I got involved in technology. Don't doubt me, I am thankful for technology. However, I used to be able to have real conversations with people and I could actually hear their voice or see them. Now , it's just "lol" or "jk," etc. Which brings me to another "I am thankful for." I am thankful for when I am able to escape the technology world be going camping, even sleeping. When I am camping, I can smell something other than gasoline or another horrible odor from who knows what.

  9. My entire life has revolved around technology. The first piece of tech that interested me was the TV, I was blown away that I could see cartoons move with tiny squares changing color. And it sucked me in, I watched cartoons all day everyday. Then my dad bought me and my brother an X-Box, and we never stop playing it until he showed us computers. When I saw computers I found Youtube and I still love watching videos on Youtube to this day. I love technology because it changed my life, I want to be the creator of something like the TV and make little kids wonder how it works and change their lives too. I also found video games, they made me think like I was watching a movie that I could choose what happened. I still play video games all the time, I want to make games as well as ground breaking technology. Technology made me the person I am today.

  10. I think that the road up to my life was rough but it started to get better when I stopped caring about what I dont have. Ill have to say that half of me is glad that we have all the technology that we do, the other half of me is terrified about the advancement that i dont know what the future holds. I have to say that the best type of way to see technology is to incorporate it in your own vision, like are art nobody can tell you that your doing something wrong.

  11. I am thankful for technology being in my life. It is true though that it would be hard to imagine my life without technology. As long as i could remember I have had technology in my life and I would play games with my friends on old game systems. I think technology is a good thing but it depends how people use it. It can be good for talking across space or for entertainment but you shouldn't completely rely on it. With technology you can make things to catch criminals or to protect others but we mostly use it for entertainment which is too bad because it would be great to use it for other things that would help us besides entertainment.

    ReplyDelete
  12. i feel ilike the kids of this new generation could be better for them if their parents made them do stuff. But away from that factor I am tankful for the tech i grew up with the gamecube/ nintendo it made me play videogames

  13. It is a blessing. With technology we have online entertainment. Such as video games, videos, movies, anime. But we also connect and are able to talk to the ones we love, either via text, call, email. There is some better "things" though. For example Love, apart of Technology I use is to keep in touch with someone very precious to me. The world of technology is amazing allowing people to be connected to their loved ones no matter how far apart.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm thankful for technology. Without technology we would have no computers or phone we can't make contact to each other unless we sent each other mail. Technology is much faster at time and slow but it does help us complete things much faster.

  15. In some ways I feel very cheated from getting the full experience of life. There are things that I wish I could experience more, like playing with kids down the street or going up to the park to play football, but in todays world, thats not very common. Those are things that I have done in small instances, say with my brother, but more often than not, everyones playing on their computers or phones. I feel like video games and electronics have enhanced some kids childhoods by allowing them to do what they enjoy if they arent super athletic or extroverted, but for those that have access to everything, there are so many more options that make staying on your computer much more enjoyable, arguably, than playing outside.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Growing up in this time of advanced technology i feel both blessed but also cheated. life is definitely easier with all the accessibility of the internet. electronics have come a long way from robots to things as simple as a game. kids back in the day all played out side all the time and from different prospective they got more out of life then what kids that are on electronics all the time do. Kids these days have more of a lose of innocence, because of exposure to internet and most parents are completely unaware. people can basically never leave there house and do everything from how whether its school or shopping etc.

  17. I love techonology. What I don't like is people texting the person right next to them at the Thanksgiving dinner table. I think Thanksgiving is one of those times where we should all be together as a family or friends all together getting fat off of stuffing and cranberry sauce. What I don't get is texting while driving, I mean, what's up with THAT logic?!?!

  18. I feel that in my life time I have been both cheated and blessed. With my little experience I can say that in regard to knowledge and understanding our generation has been blessed; however when it comes to the lack of social understanding that is becoming more and more prevalent we are cheated. If we did not have the current level of tech that we do then we would certainly not be as prosperous and able to contact others as quickly as we currently can. On the other side it is because of the current level of tech possessed that our society is in the state that it is in. So it is a hand off as it is with all things in life.

  19. I believe that technology is a mixed blessing. As I want to find a job in the technology field, I find it extremely interesting to to tinker around with it. I also love to play computer games, and there are many different free games on the market nowadays. But these games also corrupt productivity. I find it very difficult to get work done once I start playing a game that want to play again. Also, computer games destroy the need to go outside and play- I don't want to exercise if I want to play computer games. Another annoying aspect of technology is social media and phones, especially when others sneak them in class. I dislike how people text each other and use social media instead of talking face to face. Overall, technology is powerful but has certain aspects that are bad.

  20. I feel both cheated and blessed. i feel as though I was born too early before great advancement in space exploration. I also feel as though we should return to the classics every now and then. I love reading books, like actual books, not on a screen. It feels nice to feel disconnected sometimes. But we are incredibly blessed with the medical technology we have at our disposal, I am very grateful for technology.

  21. Technology is a wonderful thing to have and I'm very thankful that it has advanced as much as it has to where I can find whatever I need on the internet and I can't express my thanks yet at this current time. However I really hope that I can repay the world one day for having all this technology. Technology is life.

  22. I feel both blesses and cursed in that, although we have all this epic stuff, we still didnt fully experiance what childhoods were like for centuries. As a kid, I was somewhere in the middle. I played games and stuff but my friends and i would spend the majority of the time outside. My childhood was spent with Benji in 6th hour and his older brother. We played all the new games but we also played outside doing actual stuff. They had a small halfpipe at their old house and we spent countless hours there. I feel thankful my childhood was as it was because we had the best of both the digital and modern world. I wouldent change what I was like as a kid.

  23. I feel blessed and cursed since it is a amazing tool to explore the world and learn strategy. It is also good for expressing your emotions using games and social media to express it but cursed because of how distracting it is because of curiosity.

  25. I feel absolutely blessed for the generation I was born in. Technology has always been with me my entire life, it made me who I am today. But what I'm most grateful for is to be in this program with a wonderful teacher and the absolute most best friends I could ask for. I love the way GenYes works and I'm loving the direction it's headed in. Just to be able to experience all these great opportunities and grow as a person is incredible, this is just the best club/class/lifestyle I could be included in. Thank you so much Mrs. K, you've really blessed my life with what you do for us as a class and for me personally. I've always thought of you as a second mom, you've just really enriched my life and have made my high-school experience the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me. Thank you so much for all that you do, you are more than just a teacher, you're a business partner, a guidance counselor, and a mother to your students. Thank you so much for everything, when I graduate, I will never forget the terrific memories you have left me with. I don't think I'll ever be able to repay you for this amazing gift you've given me. -Your Favorite Student

  26. I am thankful for the technology that we are provided in this generation. It allows me to have a better experience in school and with my friends, It keeps me up to date with social media and great discoveries. I've always enjoyed technology and this class helps me learn even more about it and how to use it. The most important thing I like about this class is the teacher Ms.K, shes always pushing us to do our best and cooperate with others to get our work done she truly believes in the students constantly supporting them and inspiring them to do great things, I couldn't ask for a better teacher. Thank you for all the support and all these wonderful learning experiences you've given us.

  27. I believe a balanced mixture of technology and human interaction in important in our lives. I'm grateful for technology and the opportunities and experiences it has generated for me. But I'm also appreciative of the fact that I was not surrounded by technology all throughout my life because it forced me to interact with others and game me valuable skills that I can use throughout my life. So in a sense I am glad that I had a childhood without technology, but at a certain age I feel tech becomes vital to our society and the lives we lead. So I also feel blessed that technology is a part of my life now that I am older and have had a childhood of running around playing and making friends. Without tech many of the day to day tasks we must perform would be much harder and learning would be way more time consuming and laborious. In the end tech is a wonderful thing, but I believe that as a child you should enjoy the real world and live without technology because it can develop could skills and character traits that can help you throughout your live.

  28. I feel mostly blessed by technology and am thankful for it because most of my daily life revolves around technology, so I can’t really say I was cheated at all by it, considering that I have always been quite interested in technology and have always used it for as long as I can remember, and most of my memories of childhood have been mainly about technology, with most of my earliest memories involving playing some game at the time. Plus with some of my “better” friends technology is pretty much the thing that pretty much allows it to be possible, either by playing games or using email to talk to each other, so I can pretty much only say it is a blessing, rather than it cheating me out of anything in life.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Most of my life revolves around technology, and for that I am grateful. I feel like I grew up in a prime time of advancing technology, where many of the basic technologies we see today were present but not nearly as integrated and refined. Sincgrew up alongside all this new tech, I have more of an appreciation for all the devices around me than younger generations. Gaming has always been an interest of mine even since before pre-school, and has it has been a fun ride seeing it mature along side me, going from my PS2 and early Winnie the Pooh PC ROM games to digital downloads and a shiny new Xbox One. Since I grew up alongside all this new tech, I have more of an appreciation for all the devices around me, and couldn't imagine a different life without them.

  30. Well, I grew up in a pretty poor neighborhood. Technology was present, but it was very slow and hard to use. We didn't have the latest and greatest, and I yerned for it. My family never could really afford it, so I gave up on it at the time. So, most of my time was spent outside, talking to people. Although, when I moved to where I am now, I lost many friends. I was scared of this sudden change, and became very shy. My Mother worked very hard for every raise she could get, so she could make me happy. I love her very much. She got us a computer, and good internet. I became very attatched to this. I found communities that I loved, and became very involved. I'm so thankful for this, because if that never happened, I probably wouldn't be where I am today. I wouldn't have taken this class, wouldn't have met the people I know today, and wouldn't be the same person. Although, I do regret acting so shy for so many years. It's hard for me to approch people, talk in front of crowds of people I don't know, and take part in social activities. I feel technology aided a bit with the decay of my social skills. Never the less, I'm very thankful for having technology in my life. I have been fascinated by it ever since I was a kid, and so many opertunities have opened up because I invested my time in technology.

  31. With the current technology we have today I feel truly blessed. I couldn't imagine how life would be without a television or a computer. The technology we have today allows us to communicate and pass knowledge around the world. It is helping me succeed in school. Communicate with my friends and family outside the state.

  32. Until last year I was pretty poor and tech was always there but I didn't have a phone until sophomore year of high school and I got my first smartphone for my birthday last year. We I remember our first computer was an old Mac http://img.bhs4.com/B0/3/B0335C38AC6D26031CB8C8BF0AC92C53C9B17512_large.jpg I think it is wear my hatred for the OS came from anyway... Do I find myself blessed? Yes, but in a different way I grew up with out being able to buy the newest computer or newest phone. The first Game system I owned was a N64. And even though I got dealed a bad hand. Some my fondest memerys came from me and my brother playing that N64 or playing on that old computer. So yes I find my self very blessed.

  33. When I was younger I lived in a really bad neighborhood in a really bad apartment with my sister and parents. We had a computer that was just slower then imaginable and a really disgusting bathroom. so when I heard we were moving I was really happy but it actually got worse. I was homeschooled for my first two years of elementary school and so we had to get a new computer which was great and soon I started public school but I ended up getting bullied because I started two years later then everyone else so I took to games and thats how one of my defining traits came to be and soon I found Genyes. What i'm really thankful for is the people who have helped me through all the tough parts or my life and now where I have opportunity to achieve better things.

  34. I am so glad that I live in an era filled with rapidly advancing technology. I think the greatest thing about modern technology is being able to connect to people all over the world. Many people think that if you have friends that you met on the internet and only know them through games steam or minecraft, you are totally lame. This is sad. Simply because I have never seen a person face to face doesn't make a relationship less valuable. It is awesome how connected people of all nationalities can be through the use of the internet.

  35. I'm very thankful for the technology we have today. Considering the fact that I spent a majority of my time awake sitting at a computer desk, (regardless of how unhealthy it may be), I probably couldn't live without it. All of my hobbies, work, and even part of my education revolves around technology. Do I think we could get on without all this high tech junk that we use on a daily basis? Yeah, sure. Our ancestors got along just fine-- hence why we're here. If we had no prior knowledge that this technology existed, then we would be thankful for what we did have. It's all just a matter of perspective.

  36. Being born in this generation is interesting to say the least. Watching technology change before you is kind of a dull thing for me imo. but from my grandparents perspective they notice almost nothing, i find my self trying to explain how things got to the way they got now. Like the Galaxy s5 for example: Its water resistant, but you can still submerge it in water which seems to be the best thing ive seen in a phone right next to the Nokia Lumia 1020 with a 41 Mp camera.

  37. I'm very grateful for all of the tech we have today, without the internet and Google, I wouldn't know nearly as much of the information I know now. Imagine 60 years ago trying to find out whats happening across the globe without going there, now you can do it with a few clicks on the TV or on the computer. Most of my work, hobbies, and information comes from technology, and without it I probably wouldn't as efficient as I am now. Lots of my life is stored on technology, my memories, my ability to contact friends and family, my ability to order pizza online, my passwords, and when i'm old enough my money will also be stored online.

  38. I feel very blessed for all the technology today and being able to witness it all. Although I knew lots about technology at a young age I didn't really try to do anything and my life was pretty dull, but now I use technology a bunch more. To be completely honest I wouldn't really have much to do in my life without it. I also think that I will grow up and see technology change very much, because now is just the beginning.
